Via 417 is a true gem in Jenkintown. We found this quite by accident – looking for a dining option after viewing the Asta Lumina light show. The food was outstanding from start to finish. I had the pappardelle with sausage, shrimp, and mushrooms in a rich, perfectly balanced cream sauce—comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with care.
Dessert was just as impressive: authentic, not-too-sweet tiramisu and a silky panna cotta that tasted like it came straight out of Italy. The service was warm, attentive, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming.
If you’re looking for a cozy spot with excellent Italian food and genuine hospitality, Via 417 is absolutely worth a visit.

Excellent place right in the neighborhood! We had the cheese board and fried gnocchi as appetizers. They were very good and the portion size was more than generous for sharing. The beet salad was also a great choice. There were four of us and we all got something different and shared tastes. Tried the parpadelle pasta with short rib, the salmon, linguine with clams, and chicken piccata and all were excellent. Service was also great. Highly recommend!

We were in Italy 2 months ago. In cities like Rome, Florence, Bologna and Venice. Yesterday we ate at Via 417 and the Pappardelle Fungi and Gnocchi Gorgonzola were AMAZING. My wife and I were commenting both of these dishes were much better than the ones we had in Italy. Staff was amazingly friendly too. I loved this place and we will come back!

Me and my wife visited the restaurant for the first time tonight, I had found this place online for great takeout dishes we’ve ordered from here a few times before but have never been in person which I’ll say Everytime we’ve ordered takeout it has gotten to us still hot and fresh (granted the restaurant is only 8 minutes from our house) we have never had an issue and the food is always amazing!! Favorite dish by far is the bone in short rib and polenta, it’s what drew me to this place!! Went in for a pre valentines day dinner with my wife and had a great time. The server was a little hard to hear when giving the specials but it was a full house it happens. Got the octopus dish which was probably top 3 best octopus dishes I’ve ever had, and the seafood squid ink pasta in truffle cream sauce, dish was good light on the truffle but I would of crushed this with just a little lemon zest on top, regardless great dish!! My wife got the short rib, always a great dish!!

This is the kind of place you need to try once and decide for your self if you want to return. The decor, vibe and service are all very nice. The food we had was presented beautifully, yet ranged from terrific to nothing special.
The buratta was very flavorful and tasty. The beet salad didn’t have much flavor except from a little too much dressing. The salmon and its fixings was delicious. And the mussels were very good but not great. Some that never opened were in the bowl and should have been removed before being served. And the sauce, when soaked up in the bread tended on the salty side.
We were surprised that we had to ask for bread, when the meal was served. And then surprised that the olive oil on the table was stale.
The cover of Via 417 looks great and sets great expectations. I just wish the insides were as good as the cover.

Was looking for somewhere to dine near Astra Lumina at the Abington Arts Center late afternoon on a Sunday. After finding a few places, we ended up at VIA 417, a quaint Italian restaurant tucked into a downtown city block.
We were promptly seated in this cozy Italian spot and given a nice warm bread basket that we paired with a wonderful, quality olive oil. Divine!
Decided on a Caesar Salad and a shrimp & spinach ravioli w/ a cognac rose cream sauce. Both were EXCELLENT!
The salad tasted fresh and flavorful. The shaved parm, croutons and dressing were all just right!
The pasta was delicious. Decadent and perfectly cooked with large shrimp. Hard not to finish the plate.
My friend ordered the Pappardelle with short rib, which was a pasta-heavy dish that required a take-home box for future enjoyment.
Sad that we couldn’t enjoy or even look at Via 417’s dessert menu. I have no doubt that it would’ve been a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
For a Sunday early evening, this lovely little spot was quite packed. I suspect it’s likely reservations recommended and a local favorite.

First time trying Via 417, we ordered delivery of the short rib, gnocchi gorgonzola, tiramisu, and panna cotta.
The short rib & polenta was phenomenal. It had a deep rich flavor with creamy cheesy polenta. Just fantastic.
The gnocchi were very bland, not much gorgonzola flavor, really the only flavor was the walnuts. The gnocchi themselves had a nice texture though.
We never had panna Cotta before, but we enjoyed the texture. It was silky and creamy. The topping wasn’t that enjoyable though, it had a weird taste maybe almost too concentrated berry flavor, and the dust they added made it gritty. I could eat the inside all day though, it was delicious.
The tiramisu was decent, though we personally didn’t like the taste of the chocolate syrup on top.
Overall we enjoyed it and would like to try other menu items.

My wife and I went here for Valentines Day. The ambience and service were fantastic. The food was average and nothing to rave about. I received the Chicken Parmigan and it was nothing to special. The sauce was not that great and the cut of chicken was average. My wife had the gnochi and it was also okay. I would not return here in the future because we have had way better quality food in other restuarants that are BYOB.
