My boyfriend and I came to Vessel for date night and were really impressed with the aesthetics of the space—beautifully designed, intimate, and perfect for a night out. The food absolutely lived up to the hype; everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious. Unfortunately, the experience was dampened by the bar staff. The interactions felt cold and unwelcoming, with very poor interpersonal skills, which was surprising given the otherwise elevated atmosphere of the restaurant. Great food and ambiance, but the service at the bar left a lot to be desired. With friendlier, more engaging staff, this place could truly be a standout in Mid-City.

My husband surprised me for our wedding anniversary coming here, I’d been wanting to come here. I loved everything about it, the atmosphere, drinks, and our waiter. We had the crab au gratin for an appetizer, I had the filet mignon, my husband the shrimp and grits, had to order the blackened butter fries too!! Everything was cooked to perfection and had the perfect amount of flavor. Our waiter was attentive and amazing. I had the tipping point drink and mistakes were made drink, my husband had an old fashioned, the drinks were on point! I couldn’t have asked for a better dinner to celebrate our anniversary. ❤️

This place was our last stop on our way out of New Orleans and it will be one of our most memorable. The building and ambiance were great for appreciating golden hour as the afternoon light filtered in. The gin cocktails by Cami were lovely and balanced. We had the chicken and blackened fish which was also cooked well and not dry at all. 10/10 recommend

Dear [Restaurant Management/Customer Service],

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent dining experience at your New Orleans restaurant. The service was truly horrible. We felt rushed from the moment we were seated, practically pushed to our table and then pressured to pay before we had even finished our meal.

Our initial table was unstable, and when we requested a different one, the waitress seemed visibly upset. Although the restaurant was largely empty, the alternative table offered was still very small.

Furthermore, my fillet mignon was overwhelmingly seasoned with an excessively thick layer of pepper that completely masked the flavor of the steak. This was not mentioned in the menu. The side dish arrived five minutes after the main course and was, frankly, a waste of money.

It was clear that the priority was to get customers in and out as quickly as possible, resulting in a truly unpleasant experience. This has been the worst culinary experience I have had since moving to New Orleans.

I hope this feedback will help others avoid a similar disastrous night out.

I got the scallop risotto. Small portion for the price. You may want to order an appetizer or ask if they’ll make a half salad to go with it. Was delicious nonetheless! Service was amazing, atmosphere was beautiful. Drinks were very nice.

I found the overall experience to be very ‘meh’. It would be what I would expect from a chain restaurant, not a place that demands the prices Vessel does. I don’t see myself going back when places like Couchon, Compere Lapin, and Jaques-Imos share the same space.
The cocktails were great and every one enjoyed their drinks.
The food that was cooked properly ranged from good to OK. My porterhouse chop was cooked well instead of medium. It was dry and chewy. The haystack potatoes were greasy and mushy and the fig sauce was a bit of an overly sweet mess. The manager brought out some very tasty brussel sprouts while I was waiting for a medium chop. The kitchen overcooked the replacement chop and it never made it to the table. By the time I received the second replacement meal of duck empanadas I was more annoyed than hungry because everyone else was finished with their meal. They were quite tasty though. My wife’s salmon was cooked rare instead of the medium she ordered – which I thought was a better temp for salmon anyway but still not what she ordered. It was pretty good. Our companions were very happy with the softshell crab pasta and the blackened gulf fish was also well received.
Our waiter was very nice and on point in nearly all aspects. I did have to ask for my empty water glass to be filled twice. A water glass should never be allowed to approach empty.
The atmosphere was really nice. The old church makes for a beautiful presentation. The only knock was that the manager adjusted the lights for a significant amount of time trying to get the levels where he wanted them. The lights went from I have to squint bright to I can’t see my food dark several times before settling. It was a relatively short annoyance but it was very annoying to have the lights jumping around.

We booked this restaurant for my friends 22nd birthday. The food was pretty good but I tell you.. the service was AMAZING!!! We had the best server (Ben) and the bartender was absolutely amazing as well. Ben made us feel at home and was so nice towards our party. The restaurant was kinda empty so they let us take photos and admire the atmosphere. The crab au gratin dip was phenomenal and I highly recommend it. Eating at this establishment was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Vessel you have a great staff on your hands!

Ordered two drinks here during happy hour. Really cool atmosphere. An old church. Bartender was friendly and good at her job. Drinks were kind of pricey though. I ordered two cocktails that were on the happy hour menu.
