A huge shoutout to Stephen for the impeccable service and the travel tips. This place sets the bar for Sarasota dining.
We started off with The Prince Edward Island Mussels, DELICIOUS — plump, fresh, and bathed in a deeply flavorful broth that stole the show. The merguez sausage added a smoky, spiced richness, the tomato fumet could have used a bit of salt. The orange peel tied everything together beautifully, adding just enough citrus lift without overpowering the dish.
The Whole Roasted Cauliflower was OUTSTANDING! Perfectly caramelized and tender, it paired wonderfully with the whipped feta, which was light, creamy, and slightly tangy. The chickpeas added heartiness, while the pomegranate provided little bursts of sweetness and acidity that kept the dish vibrant and balanced.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere strikes a great balance between upscale and relaxed, making it ideal for anything from a casual night out to a special dinner. Thoughtful flavors, excellent ingredient quality, and polished presentation make this spot a standout in Sarasota’s dining scene. Highly recommended.
Our server was great. He was tending to use and those on the floor. He was attentive and knowledgeable!
Given that it is season here in SRQ, I recommend securing your reservations today!
The oysters were fantastic—bright, cold, and clean, with that perfect briny-sweet balance. Some of the best I’ve had in Sarasota. The mussels were also excellent: tender, flavorful, and served in a broth that practically demanded you finish it with the grilled sourdough (which I did, without hesitation).
Service was attentive, the cocktails solid, and the atmosphere gives you that “special night out” feeling without being stuffy.
If you love raw bar classics or want a more elevated version of the Owen’s experience, Veronica is absolutely worth the visit.
We visited on Friday, February 13 to celebrate Valentine’s Day and unfortunately left very disappointed. We drove all the way from Tampa and had a 5:00 PM reservation, arriving at 4:50 PM. The young lady at the front told us they do not seat anyone before 5:00 PM, which we understood and respected. We used the restroom and returned to wait patiently.
While sitting there, we made eye contact with the greeter and she smiled, so we assumed everything was fine. However, during that time multiple couples walked in after us and were promptly seated — including one by another staff member. After watching several parties get seated before us, I approached again and was suddenly asked if we were ready to be seated. I explained that we had been ready since we arrived but were told seating before 5:00 PM was not allowed. The inconsistency and lack of communication were frustrating and honestly made us consider leaving.
We decided to stay since it was a special occasion. Our waiter, Adam, was very nice and professional — no complaints there. Unfortunately, the food was just okay and nothing memorable, especially considering the drive and the expectations.
Overall, the experience was disappointing. The host stand set the tone, and the food did not make up for it. You guys need to do better, especially when guests are traveling and celebrating special occasions.
