The Valley’s best Chicago deep-dish has come to San Tan Valley. The concept’s fourth East Valley pizzeria is taking over the former Ironwood Pub & Grill on the northeast corner of Ironwood and Ocotillo. Vero (formerly Buddyz) made its Arizona debut in Queen Creek in 2013, leading a parade of well-known Windy City pizzerias – including Lou Malnati’s, Gino’s East, and Giordano’s – into the Valley. Vero has been the most successful, adding busy locations in Gilbert in 2021 and Ahwatukee in 2017. The menu offers 18 “landmark” pizzas name-checking Chicagoland attractions, such as the Sears Tower, Daley Plaza, Dearborn Station, Rush Street, and Soldier Field. Pizzas come in three styles: thin crust, butter

I’m born and raised in Chicago. I was craving Lou Malnati’s but it was too far. Vero’s deep dish pizza was delicious and satisfied my craving! My husband ordered Pizza Fita bites, and those were gross. The food was delivered presumably 15 minutes after it was ready, but the oil drenched the food so bad that our fried food arrived soggy.
Last night we ordered two pizzas for carry out and when I got to the restaurant and paid, the young lady, completing the transaction gave me back the wrong change (too little). I gave the cash back to her, pointed out her error and told her the correct amount of change I should have received. The total on my order was $23.23. I gave her $30.25 she initially had given me $6.75 in change and I told her that was incorrect and the change should have been $7.02. She closed the cash register and stared at it for a few moments and looked at me like I was trying to pull something with her. I was aggravated at this point and I told her I know I am right and I am not trying to rip you off or do anything shady, this is a simple math problem. She then reluctantly gave me the $7.02 change back and I Looked at the receipt and realized what her issue was. When she typed in the amount I gave her she typed in $30 even instead of $30.25, I showed her and explained it to her because she was still acting like she gave me the correct change when she gave me the $6.75. I gave up, told her to have a nice night and left.
The pizza was hot and good, but we did have an issue with the green olive one. Last night, my two kids were complaining about random burnt spots on their pizza and it tasting gross. They then said when they pick the burnt pieces off, it didn’t taste bad, so I assumed they were being picky and didn’t pay attention to it until tonight when reheating it for dinner. I figured out why it tasted burnt, it looks like the pizza was stuck in the oven, it was all crinkled up on one end and burnt pretty badly. I’ve added pictures below.
It was just a really disappointing experience, especially after we were giving them a second chance. I wouldn’t highly recommend recommend visiting this location.
Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable of the menu and assisting in great recommendations for us to enjoy. I wish we had room for the Italian beef sandwich but will save that for our next visit.
I grabbed their pasta dish and asked her how it was. She told us how she eats it and OMG it was delicious. I definitely overate lol.
We had such a good time I boasted how great she is to her leader. She was just as amazing as Brittney.
We will definitely be going back and making sure to request Brittney every time.
