I am so excited this restaurant is expanding and renovating. My family and I went for a NYE dinner and the service was phenomenal. Although we missed the NYE celebration, the staff still treated us well and made sure we had a great night. Everyone had a phenomenal meal which means a lot because my dad himself is a chef so he is very picky when eating at other restaurants. Finally, the decor was very cozy and clean which we all appreciated. The waitress told us they would be closed because they plan to expand their outdoor seating so I’m very excited to see how Vern comes back in the summer!

My dining companion and I decided to go for lunch instead. Vern doesn’t take reservations for groups under five people, so we hoped for the best when we showed up around lunchtime on a Saturday. As we entered, there was only one other party and they were sitting at the bar, so we were able to sit wherever we wanted in the dining room.
Our waitress, Wafa, who appears to also be the bartender greeted us and took our drink orders. We were informed that they don’t have a drink menu available because they’re in the process of switching to their seasonal drink menu, but Wafa recommended the sangria and old fashioned, so we ordered one of each. The sangria was good and the old fashioned was delivered with an aromatic wooden lid that secured a smoky layer atop the drink. The drinks was quite good and we would order both drinks again.
For appetizers, we couldn’t decide between oysters and calamari, so we asked Wafa to surprise us. We were certainly surprised when she brought both appetizers to the table. After we explained the mixup Wafa offered to take one of the appetizers off of the meal. The oysters were delicious, but could’ve used bread for absorbing some of the buttery cream. Thankfully Wafa accommodated our request for bread. In my option the oysters should always be served with bread. The calamari was okay. The sweet chili glaze was a bit much and I would’ve preferred if it were served on the side so I could either dip the pieces or pour on the amount of sauce that I prefer.
For my entree, I ordered the duck, as recommended by Wafa. The sides (potatoes, spinach, and broccoli… which was substituted for mixed veg) were the real standouts. The duck had a nice crispy exterior but the meat was completely flavorless. It was served with an orange sauce which didn’t do much to bring life to the duck. I was told that this was one of their most popular dishes and I don’t understand why.
My companion ordered the lobster taco entree with truffle fries. This meal received high marks, but they felt that the green peppers in the pico were slightly overpowering and distracting, but still enjoyed the meal.
We will definitely return to Vern and are thrilled to discover such a great dining experience in our community.

The food, was delicious and the service was great. The buffalo wings were delicious, my steak was cooked perfectly, and my husbands entre was equally . Everything was tasty. I will definitely be going back.

I had my wedding reception here in January of 2026. The Vern team was absolutely FANTASTIC to work with! Joann went above and beyond throughout the entire process, from recommending excellent vendors (flowers, DJ, photography) to making great suggestions for how to best set up the venue (which we listened to and were so grateful we did). My family and I after every interaction with Joann were left saying “well she’s awesome.” Plus they close during the winter, so we got the entire venue to ourselves by default which was an unexpected bonus. The catering menu was excellent with a variety of selections including off-menu food options for the kids. The entire staff that was onsite (bartender, chefs, servers) were delightful. I cannot say enough good things about Joann and her team. If you’re considering doing an event here, DO IT! You won’t regret it!

We’ve gone to this restaurant many times under previous owners and had to try the new place out and there was no disappointment here. The service was good, the food was delicious, and aside from one drink that had a problem that was immediately corrected, the drinks were perfect. If you’re in the area looking for good food and drink right on the water, then this is a place I recommend you give a try.

I recently dined at VERN Restaurant and Bar with my wife for Valentine’s Day, and we had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is spacious and has plenty of seating, so we were able to find a table that was comfortable and private. The staff was courteous and friendly, and they were attentive to our needs throughout the meal. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of seafood options to choose from. We also appreciated the free parking and the fact that we were able to make a reservation.

This place is interesting….we were excited to try a new waterfront restaurant as we love coming by boat. The pictures posted on social media do not match the vibe of this place. The pictures show a fancy well kept place and unfortunately this place isn’t it. It’s more of Ikea when expecting restoration hardware.. We are bar people and we were disappointed that the bar was dreary, unwelcoming and smelled just like the men’s room next to it. We went on a day that wasn’t busy and weren’t allowed to sit at four seater that had a better view (we were two people, which two people were later sat at). The drink menu was inviting and they were pretty good, but were very weak for the price. The food carried this place. The crab salsa was fresh, delicious and the star of the show. The lobster mac and cheese was outstanding, cheesy with quite a bit of lobster. The burger was solid as were the fries. It’s a place to try but don’t expect what you see on social media.

Went to this gem of a restaurant on Sunday and I just have to say, the vibes were immaculate! Live music & performances (specifically steel pan the day I went) with an amazing view by the water, not to mention the great food !! There’s many options for food, including vegetarian options as well. The drinks were delicious also! The service was amazing and the owner Vernisha, came to meet us herself and personalized our experience, amongst others there as well! Will be coming back here and bringing other friends and family for sure!

My friend had a birthday dinner here and the workers were extremely friendly and accommodating. They even changed the seating arrangement to better suit what the birthday girl wanted. The food was delicious and they kept asking if we needed anything which was great! They also allowed us to choose a music genre to play on the speakers. Overall 10/10 experience!
