Reviews
I’ve been visiting Marco Island on and off for more than ten years, yet somehow Verdi’s Bistro managed to fly under my radar—until this past week. Tucked unassumingly into a small strip mall beside a bagel shop, Verdi’s is one of those delightful surprises that remind you never to judge a place by its parking lot.
Warm smiles, a cozy atmosphere, and an imaginative menu that goes well beyond bistro classics set the tone the moment you walk in. Vince, the owner, is as genuine and gracious as they come—his presence infuses the room with a welcoming energy that carries through the entire dining experience. The team, led by our wonderful server Allie, matched that spirit perfectly: attentive, personable, and clearly proud of what they do.
The crispy duck was cooked to perfection—crisp skin, tender meat, rich and balanced. The beet salad was bright and flavorful (though I was surprised they chose blue cheese over the usual goat), and the meatballs? Instantly addictive. The wine list is modest, but I’d love to see Vince get a little bolder here—there’s room for creative pairings that could elevate the experience even further and match the kitchen’s ambition.
Verdi’s isn’t trying to be trendy or flashy. It’s real, heartfelt dining—crafted by people who love what they do. If you haven’t been, make it your next reservation. You’ll leave full, happy, and wondering how you ever missed it. Guaranteed.
The good: They wrote Happy Birthday on our tablecloth and wished me a Happy Birthday. A nice touch. Server was quick to welcome us and walked through the specials. The rack of lamb was beautifully prepared and well flavored. The special for the night Shrimp Scampi was also a hit for a member of our party.
The bad: They had the door open when we arrived (Thursday night dinner) and left it open for most of the meal service. Flies flew in and the restaurant was not as cool due to the door being open. The shrimp and scallops was sloppily assembled and not prepared like the expensive dish it was. Where was the care and distinctive flavors on this dish? The bigger issue was the wait staff. Our server, a seemingly nice woman who spoke Portuguese and Spanish, was thoroughly engrossed in another table that spoke Spanish. We barely saw here after they arrived. She was rushed and not clear with us on menu choices. Very disappointing. Never saw a manager or anyone else who asked how was our meals.
We used to love Verdi’s, but they now lack a lot of appeal after this experience.
This was a nice find on Marco Island. If you’re looking for a good meal that is reasonably priced and menu variety – this is the place for you.
My partner and decided to stop in after reading the reviews and were pleased with the meal.
We ordered the fettuccine vongole and the rack of lamb. We decided against appetizers since the entrées come with a salad (for a small charge you can upgrade to a specialty salad).
I upgraded to the spinach salad and my partner the beet and goat cheese. Both salads were pretty good. The fettuccine vongole was made with fresh, house made gluten free noodles which was a surprise. I am not one for gluten free, but I couldn’t taste the difference. My only complaint is that it was a tad salty for me. My partner said his rack of lamb woth asparagus and mashed potatoes was very good.
We finished out the evening with bread pudding. Also good.
Overall a good experience.
