A wonderful Italian restaurant with an attention to detail. Flavor and plating were superb. The pasta is house made. We also enjoyed an excellent barata pizza and happy hour from 4-6:30 pm on house wine, pizza, most pasta dishes and select cocktails. For dessert we had amazing cannolis with orange zest and pistachios. An intimate, modern setting with excellent service.

This place was positively wonderful. And the staff – so friendly, and so kind!! My wife and I came here from out of town, celebrating our anniversary. We wanted carbonara, and this restaurant made it for us, even tho it was off the menu, just so we could check an experience off our NYC trip wish list.
And the food was great too. We’re really happy we went here. Check it out if you’re in the area!

We had an amazing dining experience at Ortomare Ristorante Pizzeria. When me made the reservation over the phone, the service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff making us feel welcome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed evening. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. Each dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely be returning!

Food was great. Got the tortelloni, rigatoni, and the baked eggplant. Delicious.
The vibe was romantic, dim, and action packed if you sit next to the pizza maker.
The service was lackluster. The server seemed like he didn’t want to seat us because we were dressed too casual. We waited 20 minutes for menus and then just pulled it up from Google photos. Once he noticed we were looking at the menu online, he rushed over with paper menus and rushed us to order. The server had also just smoked a terrible cigarette so you imagine the smell.

Still my favorite family owned Italian restaurant. Good is excellent here. Wood fire pizza and delicious classic Italian dishes. Meatballs are just like nonna makes. Great attentive service. Gets crowded so make sure you have a reservation. It’s worth the trip uptown for some great food.

Visiting from Texas and WOW, what a find. I was craving a ribeye and this was the best I have ever had. Octopus was grilled to perfection, calamari and marinara was spot on. Atmosphere was cozy and romantic. Staff was very polite. We even got a limoncello on the house. New go to when we come back to NYC. Best news, they are expanding to Austin. Highly recommend and regret we didn’t take pictures.

We had a delightful family dinner at Ortomare. The service was exceptional, welcoming, and attentive, which was a big plus for us with kids. The food was top-notch – the Margherita pizza, made in the visible fire oven, was a hit. The spinach salad with olive oil, balsamic dressing, and goat cheese was a flavor explosion. The sage ravioli was a standout, with a noticeable taste of sage that was a real treat. We capped off the evening with the amazing chocolate lava cake and vanilla gelato. And we can’t forget to mention their excellent selection of Italian wines. Definitely worth a try.

Gluten free pasta and pizza were okay, a bit more cheese on the margarita would have been appreciated! Three stars because they forgot about our starters and brought the main dishes straight away.

What took us so long to visit this restaurant! It is small with a lovely indoor seating area, but we opted to eat outside. The outside area is small, but on lovely nights it is nice to have the light breeze.
We ordered 2 pizzas (The Diavola and The Norcina) and they tasted so good. Wood burning fire place just makes the difference. The red pizza sauce has great flavour, and the pizza crust was great! Near the centre of the pizza it is a lot softer, but did not bother me at all.
The pasta bolognaise was also delicious. They do not skimp on the meat or flavour like other places. And the pasta was cooked ever so slightly above al dente. They also bring fresh parmesan and fresh pepper table side in case you want some.
We also had the panna cotta for dessert with a drizzle of caramel. A light dessert to end the meal.
My only suggestions would be (if I am being picky)
1. The bread, although fresh, you can tell it was sliced and sitting out a bit
2. The spices oil for the pizza was clogged so nothing really came out, and what did was very bland.
Definitely still worth the stars! A very enjoyable evening and meal!

The food was delicious, the staff were attentive and friendly. We had the lasagna and the spinach ravioli, and the cheesecake with raspberry and mango sauce for dessert. Delicious and in a quiet, pleasant location. A hidden gem!
