I recently visited Verano Food Purveyors and had an amazing experience! Being completely gluten-free, I was thrilled to try their empanadas.. and oh my gawd, they did not disappoint. It’s been a long time since I’ve had something this delicious, and every bite was worth it. The flavors were rich, the texture perfect, and it genuinely hit that comfort-food craving I didn’t know I had.

On top of that, the entire restaurant felt incredibly clean, including the bathrooms, which always makes a big difference. The staff was so kind. Prices were also excellent, making it a fantastic spot for a casual meal or quick bite.

If you’re looking for gluten-free options that actually taste amazing and a place that takes care of the little details, Verano Food Purveyors is a must-try!

I ate lunch at this restaurant twice. The service is friendly and fast! The food is really delicious. There is a few veggie options The only problem is that the ventilation doesn’t work properly and the room tends to fill with smoke, I had tears in my eyes

The chilaquiles used to be one of the best items on the menu, served with plenty of warm sauce and nicely melted cheese. Unfortunately, during my recent visits the portion of sauce has been minimal, and what little there is tends to be cold. The cheese is also no longer melted, appearing instead in unmelted chunks. I hope this is something the kitchen can address, as this dish used to be a highlight of the menu.

Some of the best bites I’ve had all year. I had the beef empanada and braised pork patacon which was surprising in all good ways. Finished with mini flan Mexicana which I want my Xmas stocking stuffed with! Great service, owner was a prince and I miss it already after just leaving half hour ago.

The first time I had the black bean arepa, which was fantastically CRISPY. I had tequeños too, which were crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside. The second time I had black bean patacón with avocado, which was also delicious. Don’t miss the Guava Jarrito. I didn’t think the Mexican flan was as good as other dessert options in the area.

In short: everything on the menu is amazing. I have had almost everything on the menu now and it is all incredible. My favourites: beef arepa, chicken patacon and the chilaquiles. All of the empanadas are great- especially the mushroom (and I do not like mushrooms at all). It is my favourite restaurant in Halifax hands down. I should also mention that the owners and staff are such a delight. As of September 13/21 they will have expanded operating hours so if you can’t get downtown on a workday go on Saturday. I promise you will not be sorry.

Haven’t eaten as juicy an arepa before. And being a first-timer to Halifax trying out the (pork) palacone (a sandwich with fried plantain as bread) was a mind-blowing experience.

We also got a chance to meet chef Eduardo, and he know he’s the best. The burst of flavours on my palate is going to stay with me for a while.

Please do visit if you’re passing by!
