Who would’ve thought one of the best meals I’d have in Maine would come from a pizza spot in a converted work trailer? Vera Idyllic Pizza is an absolute gem on the side of the road. We stopped by twice in four days because the pizza was that good. The cheese and BBQ chicken pizzas were both amazing — fresh, flavorful, and with the best dough I’ve ever had. The setup is simple but really well done, and you can tell they put care into everything. Forget the lobster — this is the place you’ll be craving again and again. AJ from Buffalo

Quite possibly the best pizza in New England – yep I said it, even with New Yorker parents and a strong Connecticut pride. We drove by this place thinking – pizza in a shack? but I was craving something other than a lobster roll and knew my boyfriend loves pizza so we gave it a try. So so glad we did! We got the supreme and devoured the entire thing in 10 minutes – it’s that good! Fresh ingredients with homemade sauce, the perfect amount of cheese and toppings but the incredible part is the crispy crust and bottom. PERFECT pizza. Only thing I would change is that I would add outdoor seating though it was great that the guy brought it directly to our car. 10/10 don’t miss this hidden gem.

This place is a roadside shack with a sign. We drove by it and didn’t give it a second thought. Then, as we came back to Boothbay Harbor, we decided to take a chance…
Walking up, I saw the by the slice machine and was worried. But, then looked at the menu and it looked legit. We ordered a full pizza and the cool guy brought it to our car when it was done a few mins later.
Crust was perfectly crispy, just the right toppings to cheese to sauce ratio. And the toppings were just right – the sausage tasted exactly like good sausage – not the crappy pizza hut/Domino’s version.
This guy has the recipe – I hope people see this review and give him a lot of business. I’m only docking him one star on atmosphere because there was nowhere to sit. But hopefully with a lot more pizzas being bought with this amazing review, he can buy some umbrellas and a bench.

We drive 40 mins once a week to enjoy this wonderful pizza. Thin crust, nice and crunchy. Sauce is wonderful. I get red sauce my husband loves the alfredo white sauce pizza. The guys are great, friendly and smile when you see them. If they are busy the wait is worth it. Give them a try. Call ahead and eat right in the car or take it home. We ordered extra to reheat. It reheats great for another lunch.
