Always delicious food and service. This locally-owned restaurant is a Victoria tradition for good food. We had the cheese enchiladas and beef fajita wrap. Yum! The chips and salsa were a great start to the meal. Just the right amount of spice! Try the Ventura’s chips for something different.

Food rated 3 stars but our server was so nice & so helpful I gave 4 total stars!
There were four of us and we had the following : chips and loaded queso, cheese enchiladas and double rice, pork tamales, small bowl tortilla soup, and one combo beef fajita taco&chicken enchilada.
We went through two bowls of homemade chips while we were waiting for our entrées . The queso was very good too. Our server advised she had seen them not to put the hot sauce and pico in the bowl of soup and it wasn’t near as spicy so that is how I ordered mine.
My grandson said the pork tamales were just OK, not as good as what they usually get closer to home. His friend ate maybe one enchilada in a little bit of rice, he said it was good. My soup looked really good but was super salty.-so much so that I only ate about a quarter of it. During this time our server came back-and-forth to check on us. Make sure everything was OK and refilled the boys drinks numerous times.
The real problem comes when you consider the ambiance. The building was very old. The floors were very scuffed and did not look that clean the entire ceiling was those old-fashioned tiles and were stained with water and what might’ve been mold. The interior could’ve used a paint job. It was very bland looking. Overall, it didn’t look the cleanest either.
It’s really rare that I have come across a place that was as dilapidated as this. Just be aware of this should you go. I’m hoping for their sake since they’ve expanded their hours to be open seven days a week that they’re able to renovate the property.

Ive only ever had their enchiladas rice beans and tamales. Its always busy and there’s a reason why becasuse its authentic, affordable, tasty.
Although ive never dined because its so busy and the dining area is more like one giant room, no partitions or privacy. Its worth a try. The masses dont lie.

It’s my go to Mexican restaurant while in Victoria, Tx. The food comes out fast and hot and delicious. The waiter is always on top of things refilling drinks and asking if we need anything else. It means a lot when you have great service. Ty

The tacos are always cold because they pre cook them, and they don’t heat up the shells. The shells that I got today were fried in old oil and I could taste it. There was no seasoning in the taco meat, and the salsa that came with it had no taste.
The outside of the restaurant has a strong horrible smell from the grease trap that’s almost nauseating.
I would have been better off going to Taco Bell.

We were visiting from out of town, and Ventura was recommended.

Ventura was busy on a Saturday night, but we were quickly seated. Service & food were both outstanding. I highly recommend the quesadilla rolls. Will come back.

Me and my husband love this place we recently tried the quesdillas rolls the chicken ones and they were honestly so delicious and light and the breading is fluffy and crispy. The tamales are super delicious and also the loaded carne guisada fries are seriously good

We had the crunchy taco plate, the meat was dry and bland, the rice was lacking in taste. I will say the beans were good but that was about it

These tamales are small, dry and no flavor. Highly overrated. I bought 15 dozen and I am not impressed. I will not be returning. What makes it even worse was that it was for Christmas Eve!!! Whole family disappointed!!! $261 that I should truly be refunded!!! I just don’t understand. I know that everyone wants to be successful and make money but if you become too successful and only worry about making money and not the finished product then you end up with a product that is poor quality and truly missing the mark. I pray that you take time to fix the problem and don’t worry about quantity until you fix the quality!! Truly upsetting!!

Always loved the Chalupa dinners but lately they aren’t the same as they used to be. The new box for to go orders could be better, they always end up a mess by the time I get home. The amount of chips for queso could also be better, this is not enough for two people. It was still delicious but needless to say I am a little disappointed.
