Nice friendly staff, portions are decent sized, pulled pork sandwich wasn’t very good, Mac and cheese wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t call it Mac and cheese it was more like butter noodles with whatever seasoning they put on the top, fries were nothing special, “spicy” bbq sauce was more sweet than spice. Overall I would not return again.

I am blown away at how excellent the food is, I had a half rack of ribs that just fell off the bone perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will be back to try everything on the menu! My husband and I tried Ventura BBQ Co for the first time at Poseidon Brewing this past weekend. There was 1 lady working, she was up front about being patient as she was the only one there. To be honest, we did not expect much. I usually am not a bbq person at all, but this was the most delicious bbq I have had in a while! The food was fresh and the lady was courteous. The bbq sauce was to die for! We will definitely return to get their food again!

I’ve eaten here several times now. The owner works at night and every time I’ve seen him he has been very nice. They do have really good tri-trip and when the mac and cheese is on point, it’s pretty amazing. Portions and pricing are very generous. The past four times I have gone, I leave there with free sides or extra meat which is really nice. I’m from the deep south and my girlfriend is from the Carolinas so we may differ on what BBQ is suppose to taste exactly like but we both find this place to be really good when we get our BBQ cravings.

I’m not happy with the flavor of the meat but this is coming from someone that loved eating at Just BBQ in Ventura. That use to be our to go place for BBQ until it got sold and now its permanently closed. If you were familiar with that restaurant then you’ll think the same. The meat needs more flavor and sauce definitely needs improvement . I would not go back a second time…..( We ordered the tri tip sandwiches and ribs )

Perfect timing delivered,and set up as well, everyone raved, many asked where and stated it’s the best BBQ they ever had!! OMG be sure to try the Smoked Brisket ,melts in your mouth, as well as chicken that’s tender,smoked pork and sides that all enjoyed , I agree,Best I ever had!

My boyfriend and I discovered this place about 6 months ago and quickly became regulars, driving multiple times a week from the furthest end of the city, buying and bringing food to new customers (our friends and family) and even suggesting them to our friends who are getting married in July.
Well our friends quickly became regulars themselves. a young couple just starting out and they set up a meeting to discuss catering for their wedding….Now, I don’t know if the owner was in a particularly generous mood that day, was considering the DISCOUNT for catering advertised in the Star Coupon Book or thinking of how good a customer we were (as the couples friends) but they were quoted $12 a head to pickup their catering for their wedding. A price they instantly messaged to THREE DIFFERENT friends and family.
Well, 2 months later they call to confirm and are basically told they are crazy.
Ventura BBQ won’t honor the quoted rate and my friends need to find a new caterer a month out of their wedding. In fact, the business is quite rude.
Not only did they quote a rate they won’t honor they must not understand catering to a group of locals is also more ADVERTISING. No business common sense in being rude AND not honoring your quote on an advertising opportunity.
Furthermore I am telling all my friends and family about this shady business, and we will never eat there again. Absolutely disgusting

The brisket sandwich was good and tender the bun was really good and soft. I didn’t like the baked beans it had a tart taste to it. The and mac and cheese was good the ribs were okay I didn’t really like the barbeque sauce. The place is okay.
