Damn fine food! We visited during a stay at Jamaica Beach RV Resort… and glad we did. The food was fantastic… starting with the salsa, and queso. Boudain enchiladas were really good, the crawfish & shrimp enchiladas were delicious. Beer could be colder. Service was good. When we visited the area again we will return.

Small cramped place inside with a lot of brown wood partitions. They should tear those down and open up the restaurant to give it better flow and esthetics.
Very loud! Hard to hold a conversation.
We put our name on a list, went to grab a drink at the bar to enjoy outside while we waited. The bar is unorganized and chaotic. The bar staff could not have been more uninterested in serving us. We waited 10 min standing there and finally got a girl to take our order. She was annoyed.
A lot of the tables outside looked gross or old. The seating area with the tall chairs had bird poop on the chairs. One table out there remained not bussed for a very long time and birds started coming and eating off the plates of the food left.
The food is good. The place was busy so our food did take a while to come out.
The red and green sauce were both tasty and the chips thin and crispy, made in house.
We got:
Super messy nachos – he liked them
Combo platter – delicious rice and charro beans, taco full of meat and good but not crazy about the blue corn shell would rather a yellow corn shell, tostado was good. The chicken enchilada though, I don’t care for dark meat, but the sauce was good.
A la carte taco carbon chicken – the tortilla was very soft and pillowy, so good but very small for $6.
Burger – he said was really good
Service was ok, not great. Took a while to place drink order so placed food order at same time. Once we got the food never got checked on again. Had to request check.

Great little place in Jamaca Beach, have been a few times now and really enjoyed it on each occasion. Last time I went I had their shrimp quesadillas and they were gooooood. So if your out on the west end of the island, stop by and give them a try, I’m sure ya wont be disappointed.

Venados was delicious! It was recommended by some locals and we are so glad we stopped! Boudin Enchiladas were amazing! The margaritas were good too. Our server was attentive and helpful. Both salsas were great. Kids liked the small arcade.

This place is absolutely delicious! Every time we’ve been the food and the service has been stellar. They have your expected Tex-Mex fare, but also some excellent chef inspired dishes that are simply divine. The portions are big and the prices are great. This last visit I tried the blackened shrimp and crawfish enchiladas with chipotle sauce. Let me tell you, I don’t normally like chipotle sauce because usually it’s way too chipotle forward, but this sauce has a nice really balance. My husband, as usual, got his boudin enchiladas with chipotle sauce. Super good! Take the little drive to Jamaica Beach, it’s so worth it!

The atmosphere is rough. Lots of wood that doesn’t make sense. Service was quick and friendly. We went for a late lunch. Nice thin tortilla chips and good salsa. Great house margarita on the rocks.Ordered were shrimp tacos and the Wednesday lunch special, huge chicken fried steak. The steak was Texas size. Served with mashed potatoes and corn riblets. The steak and mashed potatoes were very good. The corn way over seasoned, i.e. way too salty. Not eaten. The tacos were tasty with slaw and avocado, shrimp cooked perfectly but also too salty. Tacos were accompanied by Mexican rice that was meh and charro beans that were excellent. If the food had not been so salty, the food would receive four stars. Not sure we will return.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yelp Review – Venados Mexican Restaurant (Jamaica Beach, Galveston, TX)
First time here visiting from California and goddamn this place is phenomenal.
I’m not usually a fan of Mexican food outside of California, but Venados absolutely blew me away. It’s Mardi Gras week and I ordered the Cajun fajitas — unreal. They came with something called corn ribs, which I had never seen before. They split a corn cob into quarters, season it, and deep fry it so it looks like long rib strips. Ridiculously good.
My wife had the taco, enchilada, beans and rice combo — and everything across the board was on point.
The drinks? Solid. She had the Cadillac margaritas (excellent), and I had a couple Sapphire and tonics — perfectly made.
But what really stood out was the service. A whole crew of young folks hustling — cleaning tables, running food, grabbing drinks. And it’s not just one server checking on you. Multiple team members walking by asking if you need anything. That kind of energy and attentiveness is refreshing to see.
Even the small details matter here — the young lady at the front door was constantly spraying and wiping down menus. You can tell they care about cleanliness.
If you’re anywhere near the Galveston area, make sure you check this place out. I’d come back again and again.

Ladies at the bar working efficiently and so pleasant. Quick service even though restaurant was packed . Shrimp kisses were best I’ve ever had. Prices reasonable. Frozen margs perfect. Chips and cream salsa was irresistible

I liked that it was close to where I live, but I don’t like the quality of the food. It was very basic. I could’ve made it myself and still received the food faster than when I waited for it at lunch time. I was working from home and I wanted something quick. It wasn’t busy, yet my two tacos took longer than 20 minutes. Nearly $12 total for these burned and dry tortillas and tacos after taxes. The atmosphere was nice, though, and the customer service was good. The quality of the food just doesn’t match their prices. Their tacos are worth 2.50 maybe 2.75 at most.
