The Sea Tacos ⛵️ : we decided to try all 3 and I must say. . .
(The Grilled Salmon Taco) is something I’ve never had before and it’s something I will keep a look out for from now on.
Out of the 3 this has the most flavor and honestly its all around delicious.
(The Mexi-Cali Shrimp Taco).
Has that burnt crisp shrimp on a stick taste. The smoke flavor infused with the taco is rich in flavor. But it still holds that strong taste as some may not like so much and thats the only reason this is 2 out of the 3. For me.
(Fish N’ Chips) the fried fish was a bit bitter. It definitely needed alot more vinegar to soak up in the friend fish so its not so crunchy. Im not saying there’s to much batter. Theres just not enough vinegar as to the flavor was kind of bland so be sure to ask for extra vinegar.

Tacos were legit, but the real star was that red velvet cake. Best one I’ve ever had. Taco wise – chimi steak and puffy taco were amazing!

This place never disappoints! Corn dip is amazing. Shrimp taco is my favorite but today I had the chicken and waffle taco. It was great. The red velvet cake is insanely good!

Gourmet Tacos! I’ve eaten at Velvet Tacos quite a few times now and they always have some fun new tacos to choose from, flavor is amazing and ingredients are always fresh. Today I had the usual, brisket nachos, chimichurri taco a tuna wrap, all of it was so delicious. The inside is a bit small, so if it gets busy you may have to sit outside, but they do have a drive-thru if you prefer to eat at home or in your vehicle. The staff is always polite and often give suggestions, they keep the place clean, definitely one of my favorite places to eat and often take friends who visit from out of town.

This bowl was so good I had to pause to write a review. As soon as I opened it up the smell was incredible! First bite and everything was fresh and the chicken was falling apart. Its so good. This is the rotisserie chicken bowl, everything in it tasted amazing. I ordered through UberEats cause it had a free queso included and the queso is good as well! It did come with their own “heat sauce” and it does provide a nice pleasant heat! Definitely ordering my bowls from here on out.

Just got back to San Antonio for a couple of weeks and made our way to Velvet Taco. Despite all the nearby construction, getting into the parking lot wasn’t too bad. The place was a bit quieter than I remembered, and a few things had changed since I was last here a year and a half ago—but it still has that same cool, laid-back vibe.
We started with the blue corn chips and guacamole, and they nailed it. The chips were crisp and fresh, and the guac was well-prepared and flavorful.
My wife ordered the Rotisserie Chicken Bowl, loaded with queso blanco, roasted corn pico, black beans, guacamole, avocado crema, charred tomato poblano salsa, cilantro, and buttered cilantro basmati rice. It was fantastic—fresh, colorful, and bursting with flavor.
I went with two tacos:
• The Grilled Steak Taco with portobello mushrooms, queso blanco, crispy red onion, and Mexican oregano on a corn tortilla.
• The Mexi-Cali Shrimp Taco (a fan favorite), with blackened shrimp, napa slaw, sriracha aioli, avocado, roasted corn pico, and micro cilantro on a flour tortilla.
Both tacos were outstanding—easily some of the best I’ve had in San Antonio.
To drink, my wife had the Grand Kick Ass Margarita made with Lunazul blanco tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and agave nectar—spot on. I had a Modelo on tap, which was good, though the pour was heavy on foam. A small thing, but worth mentioning—maybe a quick refresher for the team on how to pour a proper draft.
All in all, Velvet Taco delivered—great food, good vibes, and definitely worth another visit. Looking forward to trying more from the menu next time. Great job, Velvet Taco!

It was unexpectedly better than I thought yet not as good as it could have been. Chips were extra salty, pork was dry, and rice was either overcooked or reheated too many times… or both. Decent flavor profiles with creative options. Overall a decent time.

I really enjoy this place. Experiencing a new flavor of tacos is so good. Anything you order here is going to taste great. The Mexican street corn is sooo good!

Definitely my new favorite taco eatery. Parking and access might get a little tight at peak times, but it’s well worth it. I love the flavor concoctions they’ve got, which offer something meaningfully unique without being overly “cute”. Prices are reasonable. Service is pretty great and there’s plenty of seating inside.
