Another solid recommendation from the locals.
VB3 was casual and Ryan and friends took good care of us. The arancini were served with an orange sauce…which I was curious about when I read it. Apparently, it works…don’t know how, but it works.
Kim had the garparm fries and Nona’s meatball…while I trusted that “Joe” knows his pizza. I think I won…Kim still thinks she won.
The meatballs are tender and tasty, the sauce is a good compliment but a little muted. The fries are better than most for me…I like a crunchy fry.
Joe’s Special Pizza…that’s a winner!!! It traveled all the way back to Canada and still tasted great. The sausage meat was balanced well with the onions and cheese. The part with the red onions was the best…I don’t know if the different onions were put there on purpose of if they were running out of one kind…but ask for the red onions if you can.
VB3 is a solid 4.5 and yet one more time I wished for half stars.
Good service and a quiet place. We had been here for a weekend lunch and we enjoyed the quiet lunch.
The only drawback is the quantity of food. It’s very less. One entrée is not sufficient for one person. The portions are very small. Generally anywhere we go (especially Jersey City) we order one entrée for 2 of us. But here we had to order 3 entrées for 2 of us.
I was going to order online first but the coupon didn’t have any code so I had no choice but to call to place the order. We were put on hold for three minutes then ordered two personal sized pizzas and buffalo chicken tender, and informed her about the coupon (she said she will take off when we pick up the order).
My husband went to pick up without any clue, he said the receipt was already printed and paid with cash.
But when I looked carefully in the receipt – they still didn’t take off credit card fee, nor $5 coupon, and charged 20% tip for pick up order.
The only nice thing was that the portions were big, but that doesn’t matter because food was so bad we didn’t even finish half. Pizzas are flavorless, chicken tenders were like sponge and fries were soggy (it could fold in half no problem lol)
For this price there are so so many options in the neighborhood that this place cannot even compare to. I wish I donated this $45 for something meaningful.
I would never ever go back, but if you do, I recommend to double check the bill.
