This review is long overdue for our favorite local spot. We have been coming to Vato’s regularly for over a year now, and it has become something we genuinely look forward to after a long work week. At this point all it takes is one of us texting “Did someone say Vato’s?” and the decision is made.
From the food to the staff to the atmosphere, this is hands down our favorite place in the area. We love the Vato Macho with a Tajin rim and have also been pleasantly surprised by their seasonal margaritas. The newest one, Hibiscus Kiss , is probably my favorite they have done so far.
The menu is huge and packed with some of the most flavorful and fun street taco combinations you can ask for, all at a great price. Some of our favorites are the Birria, Mango Fish, Bangin’ Shrimp, and Al Pastor. We also highly recommend the queso with added chorizo.
We truly love coming here. The staff and management make this place special by always recognizing us, taking great care of us, and sharing great conversations. Thank you all for making Vato’s such a standout spot for us.
Have I gotten better at chess since coming here? Yes.

You order and pay at the station up front and can sit wherever you want. The vibe is funky and everything was very clean. The service was top notch with super friendly staff. We ordered a bunch of food and it all came out in less than 10 minutes. The chips and queso with chorizo was a 10/10, the chicken tacos were delicious with a spicy kind of sauce on them, the mango fish was tasty and fresh, the pork belly tacos were genuinely some of the best we’ve ever had and the al pastor rivals that of the tacos you’d find in South Texas. The tacos are small, but honestly 3 of them is plenty for a normal sized person. If we were locals, this would be our go-to place!

I really wanted to love Vatos Tacos because the food itself has solid potential, but unfortunately, the customer service during my visit left a lot to be desired. The biggest issue was the experience with Devin, the GM. His interactions while taking orders came across as dismissive and somewhat arrogant, which set an uncomfortable tone from the start. What was more concerning was how he spoke to and treated the team members he was supervising — it felt unnecessarily sharp and demeaning, especially in front of customers. There was also a noticeable delay with billing and follow-up, and communication around timing wasn’t very clear. We sat at the bar, so it was a bit tough to ignore him since he was directly in front of us, serving as the bartender. A little more attentiveness and courtesy would have gone a long way. That said, Matt truly stood out in the best way. He was gracious, warm, and incredibly courteous. He took time to share his personal favorites, offered some off-menu secrets that genuinely elevated our tasting experience, and even suggested local festivals and activities to my friend who had just moved to the area. In a world that has felt especially chaotic lately, his kindness was deeply appreciated — perfectly paired with a side of tacos and Topo Chicos. I hope this was just an off day on the management side, because the spot has promise. With more polished and respectful customer service — especially at the leadership level — the overall experience could improve significantly.

Service was slow. I think I waited about 15 minutes for food. When the food came out, everything was disappointing. Didn’t like chips and salsa. Didn’t like my chicken or jackfruit tacos. The horchata was very gross too. Price wasn’t terrible overall – $18 for everything.

Told the guy in charge give me 4 random ones you recommend. The porkbelly and carne asada were the best. The other 2 were good but not as good as the others.
But the MANGO FISH??? GET IT
The guacamole was served like ice cream and just as smooth. No chunks. Good enough to eat by itself. The chips have structure and don’t break when you scoop up some guac.
Service? Top notch. Didn’t feel forced or fake. Nice casual banter was shared. This was a great first time being from out of state. I will definitely be back

We tried this place because we had a coupon and it did not disappoint! The burrito was great, but the street tacos stole the show! The mango fish was so full of flavor with a little bite. The pork belly was the best we’ve ever had! We enjoyed the elote as well. Very fun atmosphere with tons of space. You order at the counter, and then they bring it out! We’ll definitely be going back. Prices were very reasonable as well!

Extensive menu offering flavors and styles to suit everyone. Dined in twice a few days apart to try more of the menu. Al pastor tacos were my favorite so far. We also tried coconut shrimp and carne asada. Kiddo was disappointed in the small tray of “nachos” – he did find them tasty sans the browning guac. Great atmosphere and gorgeous outside area. Solid addition to this neighborhood.

I love coming here for various reasons, the food is always consistent, I have never had any issues with the food I’ve ordered, and the chips are always fresh.
The staff is extremely hospitable even when under pressure during busy times. If something is ever off I am sure to use my manners and discuss anything that may be wrong, which in the end is always accommodated.
Devon goes up and over to ensure the place runs smoothly, his knowledge on the food and drinks blows me away and he’s always working hard, each visit I see him working harder than the last.
This is more than just a food place for me, it’s a place where I can go because I trust everyone and feel welcomed like family. From the hard working cooks in the back to the kind individuals taking the orders up front, this place has been like a second home.

Every time I order coconut shrimp taco from uber eats after that I call and request for sauce since it’s not giving the option to add in uber eats. Previously a girl answers the call and she is really so helpful and she add two sauce in my order. But today a boy answered my call. And he was so rude. He was not even understanding what I was asking for and he sent just little sauce in one small bowl that’s it. The guy who worked today is very bad service.
