This place is WOW. I’m so grateful Vatan made its way to St. Charles. The aesthetics of the place, the food quality, the ambience and the owners are spectacular. My husband and I were so impressed by their food. And just a quick tip, with their food being the most authentic, the spice level is fire, literally . If you order a mildly spicy dish, it will taste more like medium.
I would highly recommend this place. I’m excited to see how this place grows and thrives! We weren’t shy to try a little bit of everything and no regrets. Also, the recommendation we got on the sweet naan bread for our little boy was perfect! Thank you!

Highly recommend. A great new restaurant addition in the tri-city area serving indian cuisine. We tried several dishes- all delicious. Only the dessert was a bit dry and bland. Otherwise, everything was superb! Service was impeccable. Interiors are modern and upscale. Certainly an elevated experience. Menu is well thought of and well portioned. On the pricier side but worth an occasional visit. Definitely try it out! And i hope the team maintains its quality.

We tried Vatan in St. Charles for my son’s birthday and it turned out to be a great choice. He picked it from a few options within about an hour’s drive from our place, and it was definitely worth it. The cocktails were excellent with a nice Indian twist, and the food really stood out — each curry had its own distinct flavor, not the usual one-base approach. The owner is genuinely involved, takes time to explain and recommend dishes, and the menu feels thoughtfully curated without being overwhelming. Prices are on the higher side, but you truly get what you pay for — both kids said it’s one of the best restaurants and tastiest Indian food they’ve had in a long time, and we’d absolutely love to return and hope they continue maintaining the same level of quality and experience.

Such a wonderful experience. Great service, beautiful menu, great atmosphere! Incredibly delicious and aromatic. Variable levels of spiciness. Bread stuffed with nuts and other delicacies. Fancy cashew ice cream dessert. Perfect sauces. Very fancy vegetarian dish with a cashew sauce that was to die for. No room for improvement. Extremely comfortable. Large and clean and airy and contemporary and yet traditional and comforting with exotic flair! Completely authentic by very talented chefs. Inventive and yet familiar and traditional. Progressive but grounded in solid Indian seasonings. I’d give it 10 stars if they allowed it here!

Tired of the same old “Indian food” and bland flavors? Awaken your tastebuds at VATAN! This progressive Indian Kitchen opened in 2025 Summer but this was my first visit – lunchtime.

The ambiance is classy and elevated, Indian Bollywood beats are upbeat and not too loud. The decor feels well thought out; the dining area is clean and spacious. The chairs are comfortable but the chair backs are not suitable for draping your winter coats!

Drink options are interesting, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. My Pineapple-Ginger-Passion fruit mocktail was quite refreshing and well balanced (well maybe a bit more ginger would’ve helped!)

The food… flavors are Ah-Mazing!! Generous portions. Note that the dishes don’t include rice or bread – remember to order them extra as sides.

With drinks and appetizers, expect to pay around $40-$50/person, but you will be sure to appreciate the experience! Cheers.

Let me start off saying that this place looks GORGEOUS! Food is amazing, and as a representative from the Indian community the food was bomb!
Drinks were amazing, I got the passion fruit ginger mocktail and mango lassi. Really liked the appetizers and main course was amazing. Kofta and Garlic Naan was very good, garlic naan was perfect texture and the kofta was flavorful. Amazing service and was delicious!

It has been a while since I went to a restaurant and left saying I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience.

Food: We had the dahi puchka shot, samosas (chaat style), nalli nihari with the khamiri roti, finished with the mango lassie, and we ended up getting aromatic rice to go with our leftovers. We truly loved every dish we had! The puchka had such delicious and interesting spice and fresh herb combos with a green sauce that was fantastic. The samosas chaat style was a great amount of food for a “small plate” and also had an interesting combination of flavors and sauces! The foamy yogurt sauce (for lack of a better way to describe it) had such great tang and a slight sweetness that went so well with the spiciness of the samosas. The nalli nihari with the khamiri roti was a fantastic combination! (If you can’t do spicy food, say no spice or very little spice.)

Drinks: They really know what they’re doing here with creating interesting, flavorful, and aromatic cocktails! We absolutely loved every cocktail we had. I recommend the Swadesh, Kashmir, and Darjeeling. I would order again and again!

Atmosphere: VATAN has a beautiful atmosphere, thoughtfully designed. The decor is inviting, sophisticated, and fresh. The lighting is soothing but not so dark that you cannot read the menus! Lastly, but most importantly, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive! I can’t wait to return for our next dinner!

We dined at Vatan on the 13th night and were honestly very disappointed with the food. We ordered the Swadeshi, and it was outright bad — we couldn’t even finish half a glass. It had a very strange, unpleasant taste.

The cauliflower parcels lacked flavor entirely, the paratha was undercooked, and everything felt extremely bland. We also tried the Vegetarian Parda Biryani, but again there was that same odd taste. It was not well balanced — too much gravy, very little white rice, and overall not the authentic blend you expect from a good biryani.

The ambience and aesthetics are beautiful, and the place looks great. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the setting and does not suit an Indian palate at all. Wouldn’t visit again.

Very disappointed with the overall experience.

We checked out this restaurant earlier this month and loved every bit of our experience! Tasty food, unique drinks, beautiful decor, calming ambiance. Our bar tender Surie and waiter Kamesh were very welcoming! Pics really don’t do justice but here’s an attempt.
