I would highly recommend this place. I’m excited to see how this place grows and thrives! We weren’t shy to try a little bit of everything and no regrets. Also, the recommendation we got on the sweet naan bread for our little boy was perfect! Thank you!
The ambiance is classy and elevated, Indian Bollywood beats are upbeat and not too loud. The decor feels well thought out; the dining area is clean and spacious. The chairs are comfortable but the chair backs are not suitable for draping your winter coats!
Drink options are interesting, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. My Pineapple-Ginger-Passion fruit mocktail was quite refreshing and well balanced (well maybe a bit more ginger would’ve helped!)
The food… flavors are Ah-Mazing!! Generous portions. Note that the dishes don’t include rice or bread – remember to order them extra as sides.
With drinks and appetizers, expect to pay around $40-$50/person, but you will be sure to appreciate the experience! Cheers.
Drinks were amazing, I got the passion fruit ginger mocktail and mango lassi. Really liked the appetizers and main course was amazing. Kofta and Garlic Naan was very good, garlic naan was perfect texture and the kofta was flavorful. Amazing service and was delicious!
Food: We had the dahi puchka shot, samosas (chaat style), nalli nihari with the khamiri roti, finished with the mango lassie, and we ended up getting aromatic rice to go with our leftovers. We truly loved every dish we had! The puchka had such delicious and interesting spice and fresh herb combos with a green sauce that was fantastic. The samosas chaat style was a great amount of food for a “small plate” and also had an interesting combination of flavors and sauces! The foamy yogurt sauce (for lack of a better way to describe it) had such great tang and a slight sweetness that went so well with the spiciness of the samosas. The nalli nihari with the khamiri roti was a fantastic combination! (If you can’t do spicy food, say no spice or very little spice.)
Drinks: They really know what they’re doing here with creating interesting, flavorful, and aromatic cocktails! We absolutely loved every cocktail we had. I recommend the Swadesh, Kashmir, and Darjeeling. I would order again and again!
Atmosphere: VATAN has a beautiful atmosphere, thoughtfully designed. The decor is inviting, sophisticated, and fresh. The lighting is soothing but not so dark that you cannot read the menus! Lastly, but most importantly, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive! I can’t wait to return for our next dinner!
The cauliflower parcels lacked flavor entirely, the paratha was undercooked, and everything felt extremely bland. We also tried the Vegetarian Parda Biryani, but again there was that same odd taste. It was not well balanced — too much gravy, very little white rice, and overall not the authentic blend you expect from a good biryani.
The ambience and aesthetics are beautiful, and the place looks great. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the setting and does not suit an Indian palate at all. Wouldn’t visit again.
Very disappointed with the overall experience.
