I ordered the $17 carne asada fries from Vanessa’s Mexican Restaurant and was really disappointed with how the staff handled a simple request. They only gave me two tiny sauces, and when I asked for more, the woman working there refused. I even offered to pay for extra sauce, but she said she couldn’t sell me any. As someone who loves sauce, that totally ruined the meal for me.
When I asked for a refund and to return the food, she also said she couldn’t do that. I had to come back the next day just to speak with the owner. Honestly, I won’t be coming back again.
Next time, save yourself the trouble and go to Jilberto’s — they have an open salsa bar and their fries are 1000% better! This place was empty for a reason!!!

Ate here today for lunch, pretty great! I highly recommend the Tlayuda “mixta”. It has three types of meat on a massive crispy tortilla with beans, quesito and cabbage. This thing is big enough for two and was really good. Will definitely be back for this alone!

Literally the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life. I didn’t think that was possible to experience in San Diego but it is. The guy at the front is very nice but I should have realized they were dead empty for a reason.
I literally have no idea how this place is still in business lol.
Almost $15 for a small rolled taco plate and a water. Portions were skimpy. Everything was super bland. It’s like they just fried frozen microwave food and slapped canned refried beans on the plate. No flavor.. and I don’t mean they lightly seasoned.. there was NO flavor. Not even salt!
I should have just gone to the El Pollo Loco across the parking lot. Taco Bell or Jack in the Box would have been 4x better.
This food was so bad and such a disgrace to all of Mexico that it made me want to cry after eating it. Very depressing.

NO EVEN KIDDING, the absolute best california burrito in California!!!!! I have been to at least 100 taco shops, and this, in my 26 years, is the absolute best so far!!!!

I was really disappointed with my experience at this taco shop. I ordered the carne asada fries, which ended up being $15 after tax — pretty steep, but I figured it’d be worth it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The portion had barely any meat on it, and I actually had to go back and ask for more. They didn’t apologize or show any concern, just made some more meat and handed it back. By the time I finally sat down to eat, the fries were cold and hard. Definitely not fresh, and not worth the price. I won’t be coming back.

Best taco shop in North County. My bf and I go weekly. The food is fresh and delicious EVERY time. Friendly service as well. We love the breakfast burrito and California burrito. Steak is marinated and so tasty. Wish they had another location that was closer to us but honestly they are worth the drive. Give them a try. You’ll be happy you did.

WOW! Just driving through, stopped for a quick bite. Ordered the Pork Rib Chili Verde. (Highly recommended it) Everything came out steaming hot,flavorful, great presentation! Ordered flour tortillas with my meal, they are included (4) count! They were like mom made at home! Not sure if hand made, if not? Keep using what ever purveyor you are using for those! Saw they only had 3.5 stars when I went to post this review…. was very surprised to see that after I received phenomenal service & food in a very clean well kept restaurant! Thank you!
