Down from 5 starts to 1 star
I didn’t want to say it but Vanessa’s service and food to go packaging has really gone down hill. The food is still great but let me tell you. My wife and I order to go only from this restaurant and usually eat it in the car under a tree in the Chula Vista Center Parking lot. The problem with Vanessa’s is that their to go packaging is so low quality that it sometimes falls apart and the food ends up on my lap. Bear in mind that we order to go from other restaurants and we don’t have this issue because packaging is superior and most importantly sealed so that no liquids or solids get out. On that day the to go container failed and food ended up on my lap and not only that, the lemonade that I ordered WITH NO SUGRAR on it (I told them 3 times) ended up having sugar. I’m diabetic and sugar is not good for me. So my dinner was completely ruined and am just considering just not ordering to go at Vanessa’s. Since we don’t dine indoors and Vanessa’s doesn’t have outdoor dinning it may end up being a long time before we enjoy their food. Hopefully they improve the quality of their to-go services and pay attention to orders that because of medical issues has to be very specific. We will be back. Hopefully Vanessa’s can go back to 5 stars with improvements to their service.
OLDER Review:
5 stars
Excellent Restaurant. Their menu has tons of options that I am have yet to try. So far I have tried the Birria soup, tacos, tortas and typical breakfasts (Ham and eggs for example) with absolutely no complaints. Highly recommended
Was very disappointed, the quality is not as good as prior years. Had beef, Rajas and Corn. All of them are not as good as prior timed. The Rajas tamales, have hardly any green pepper, and the cheese is not good. The beef tamales only have beef and potatoe, and the beef is poor quality. Will not purchase tamales at this location anymore.
I have to say that this place was always pricey but it’s now too much. The wait for the food is ridiculous and I’ve decided to find another breakfast place that has better service and prices. We all know why everything went downhill and it’s very sad.
OLD REVIEW: The food here is authentic. All my friends love this place. I like it here too. The owner is great, the waitstaff is awesome. HOWEVER imma keep it real. They DO NOT know how to bring out food so it comes out at the same time. They will literally take up to 20 minutes between some plates. This is the only problem here and also at the new place across the street. It’s always been this way and all you can do is take it or leave it. Unless they see this and take action. I still LOVE them. And I’ll gladly watch my family eat while I wait for my food
What really threw me off is that a SMALL chocolate milk that they make with syrup and takes about 30 seconds to make costs $4.99.
$4.99!!!
I hope the owners see this, this place was made famous because of authentic Mexican antojitos with great food, good portions, and great customer service.
Not price gouging. SMH.
