This is an outstanding place to get ice cream. Not only do they have a large variety of delicious ice creams, but they also offer a number of really high quality dairy free ice creams AND toppings! We had a very nice time. I had the brown sugar cookie dough, which was very good, and he had a dairy free sundae with dairy free chocolate sauce. We can’t wait to get back!

So not going to lie, I was a little nervous trying a new place. Especially with a 5 and 2 year old. The ice cream is so smooth, creamy and delicious. My kids finished their ice cream so fast that they powered through the brain freezes.

Always wanted to try this ice cream spot since the mall opened and glad I did. Well worth the wait and found it to taste like the name. Creamy and delicious.
The guy helping us out was super nice and let me try as many samples as I wanted. Would come back every time I visit American Dream.

It’s absolutely amazing. I’m vegan. I have limited opinions when dining out. I have many opinions here. Staff was fabulous and made great recommendations, easy to talk to. Alan is fantastic absolutely amazing. Since I have had diet restrictions due to health issues. It’s amazing to be able to have places to go that I can eat with family. I can’t tell you the last time I had ice cream, let alone my favorite chocolate chip cookie dough. It is absolutely amazing if you are thinking about it. Think no more get it. My husband had the shamrock shake, and he said it was the best. 10 stars for this place.

Tried their new pumpkin flavor and the royal wedding cake flavor and both were pretty good. They weren’t too sweet or anything and I really enjoyed them. I just wish there was an even smaller size option though. $6.25 isn’t a bad price for the big scoop that they give you, but I found it difficult to finish more than half of mine because of how rich and creamy it is (maybe that’s just me though).
Also, something to note is that the royal wedding cake flavor has a pretty pronounced lemon flavor. It’ll taste more like a creamy lemon ice cream with some lemon cake pieces which I kinda didn’t expect. I thought it would be more pronounced vanilla flavor with lemon cake pieces, but it mostly just tasted like lemon to me. It was still good though – just not what I expected.
Would definitely recommend asking the workers about unfamiliar flavors or looking them up on the Van Leeuwen website if you need to.
Overall, it was pretty good ice cream and I would come here again, but would probably try a more familiar flavor that I typically enjoy like cookies & cream. Also, be prepared to have to read the menu from afar because that thing is pretty high up.

The best ice cream!!! Hands down. If you’re ever at American Dream Mall, stop by Van Leeuwen on Level 2. So many different flavors to choose from. If you’re ever unsure, ask for a sample. Our favorite is the Cookies and Cream because a life without anything good is bad!

Great flavors with several vegan options. Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Brown Sugar Cookie Dough are amazing.

I’ve been on a vegan journey for over two decades, and during this time, I’ve sampled a myriad of vegan desserts across different places. Yet, it’s not often I come across a treat that truly stands out. Van Leeuwen’s vegan strawberry shortcake ice cream is one such rarity that left an indelible mark on my palate.
Strawberry-infused treats have always held a special place in my heart, but this ice cream? It transcends anything I’ve tasted before. The balance of flavors, the authentic strawberry notes, combined with the creamy texture, made it an absolute delight.
For those looking for the pinnacle of vegan desserts, especially if strawberries are your jam (pun intended), a trip to Van Leeuwen in Philadelphia is a must. A pure joy for the senses, this place has set a new gold standard in my vegan dessert experiences.

The quality of the vegan ice cream options is now terrible. Van Leeuwen’s was my jam for a few years, but they’ve definitely changed the recipe. The dairy-free flavors aren’t even creamy anymore, they are a dense concoction of something that kind of resembles ice cream. The scoops don’t even melt like ice cream, it looks like melted candle wax when it warms up. I’ve been to both Center City Philadelphia locations multiple times and the American Dream mall location and they are all the same. I won’t be going back to any of them until they fix it.

Their Ice Cream was delicious. Went there two days ago for the first time out of a recommendation from a relative that was with us who kept talking about the Van Leeuwen company.
We got the Choc Fudge Brownie with Vegan whip cream and the Birthday Cake with rainbow sprinkles. Also, some other dairy options.
The wait was not exactly great considering it’s just a very small ice cream shop and not a store. Relatively speaking, the cooks at the food court gave us our meal much faster.
We were two families together. Were served one group right behind the other. The first group of 3 was done with their ice cream when the second group of 4 got theirs, and finally joined us at the table.
However, the ice cream was so delicious! The server was nice and kind, too!
And we were in no rush at that point anyway. We just enjoyed the experience and are now going to be frequent customers of this new brand in our life wherever they may be located. Especially, for their very delicious vegan AND gluten free ice cream options! Looking forward to trying their limited edition flavors throughout the year. Happy that we found Van Leeuwen!
Because we were there to leisurely; to relax the day away, it worked out for us. We’re glad we stopped by. It was worth the wait in line.
