I wasn’t going to leave a review at all, I just wanted to forget about it, but Google insisted. Where do I start? We had just rolled into Pacifica that night, dropped our suitcases at our AirBnB and wanted a nice steak dinner. This place popped up in our search. We walk in and the place is pretty empty. There was 1 table, a family of about 10, just leaving. My husband needed to use the restroom, so while he was gone, I sat in the corner at our table, not greeted. There was a young lady (30’s) who ended up being our server, training two young kids how to bus tables. She was yelling at them and slamming items on the table, repeating herself over and over, so incredibly rude. I felt bad for the young boy and girl in training. There was no music on and the TV was on, but on MUTE = no atmosphere at all. Just a lady, who appeared to not be sober, yelling across the restaurant and failing at being a trainer. My husband returned after about 5 minutes and he got to witness another 5-10 minutes of this “dinner and a show” before we were greeted. The lady talked so fast and didn’t allow us to answer her questions before she would move on or just walk away. A restaurant where I am spending $50 on a steak should at least think about atmosphere and hiring properly *and not using plastic 2oz portion cups on a plate*. “Do you want a drink? I just learned how to bartend. What do you want? How about a cosmopolitann, do you know what’s in it, cranberry, vodka….” she rattled on and on. I just waited for a break in her run-on sentence. I ordered a dirty martini which wasnt terrible, but it tasted like she poured well vodka instead of what I ordered, so I didn’t even drink it. Wine list is terrible. We ordered calamari, which was a freezer-to-fryer product. It was fine. I’m familiar with the product. But, the sauces were terrible cocktail sauce and a tartar sauce so sweet, it tasted like they used miracle whip ( ) or it was mixed with left over coleslaw dressing. Nasty. I ordered a rib-eye with a baked potato and sauteed veggies. My husband ordered prime rib with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The prime rib was a perfect medium-rare, and HUGE. That was good. My rib-eye was also good. The sides were sides, nothing to write home about. I noticed an older lady by the bar watching the dining room, watching the server, but she never corrected her on her behavior. Then I heard the server mention her mom and grandma. I think the restaurant is being run by mutli-generational family, which is cool, but they need to take their business seriously if they want to fill that dining room. It was 7PM on a Saturday night and after the large party left, only 1 more table came in, a couple who had an issue with the server for some reason, so the older lady was apologizing endlessly to them. We left with doggy bags. Here’s the bad part: The next day I started having symptoms of perhaps a little bacterial issue, followed by the next day with more symptoms. The place was dirty, and the staff didn’t seem to have the integrity to keep things sanitary, and being in the business myself, I know what to look for, and I am well educated on bacterial, viral, chemical, parasitic and toxin foodborne illnesses. This seemed to be bacterial, which would make sense due to the unsanitary conditions and the meat we ordered. We tried to read the health dept report on the wall on the way out, but they had it covered up in the frame. Why? The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the potential. With the right management and a team who cares, and a kitchen overhaul, this place could be awesome. It is a historical train station, 150 years old. These ladies do not act like they have an amazing opportunity here. There are many people who would love the opportunity to bring that place back to life.

I’ve been looking for somewhere exactly like this since I moved here. The lady at the bar when u come in makes all the specials. This was one of if not THE best pot roasts I’ve ever had in my life. You get a huge portion and it tastes so homemade it made me feel some type of way. I maxxed most of it before i remembered to take a pic.the carrots were insane. Also it used to be the train station and the guy said there still remnants of the train tracks in the basement. Like, how much charm and history and homemade food can one place have?!?! Its awesome. Im going back Sunday for the roast but I heard the stroganoff is amazing so Ill probably try tht too
***Edit*** I took a pic of it before I destroyed it! Ive been at least 7 times now. Its REALLY good pot roast!

We came during lunch on a weekday so the restaurant wasn’t busy. The place used to be a train station and was well preserved. The owner cooked for us. Our server was very flexible and helpful. Service was fast, the crab sandwich was packed with crab, fries were fresh and crunchy, salmon on the salad was a huge portion, the steak was not cut thinly on the Philly cheesesteak.

This is great food! Clam chowder and Crab sandwich are best of Pacifica. We came for the Wednesday night special (steak). We started our meal with calamari and then my partner has trout (big fish) and garlic spaghetti. Yum! Plus, it’s a historical site – 1905 railway station with lots of memorabilia. This is a great place for throw back cocktails.

We came here for their Fri/Sat/Sun after 5pm prime rib $39. It was alright. It wasn’t anything fancy. For +$3.50, you can get either a salad or soup of the day. Today was clam chowder. As for the sides, you can choose between creamed spinach or cooked vegetables, either a baked potato or garlic mash potatoes. I asked for gravy on the mash potatoes but gravy was not available. My prime rib came with a bone but my friend’s didn’t. Both were thick and didn’t leave us hungry. As for the meat, it got tedious to eat toward the end as it was a lot food. My guess is around 16oz. The quality was OK. It is not herb crusted nor aged that long. They should have dry aged it a bit more for the enzymes to develop a more complex flavor.

As for the dining experience, no wait on a Friday night, unlike HOPR or Westlake Joe’s. Vallemar Station puts glass on top of table clothes with paper napkins, yes, that kind of vibe. The bartender lady must be at least 70 years old. The waitstaff is young and energetic. There’s a huge TV at the bar and also the dining room. It reminded me of how Val’s in Daly City used to be, but a notch lower. Free bread. Service was excellent.

Gem of a restaurant! Super charming ambience, food is OUTSTANDING! They clearly make their food with love. Very reasonable drink prices. Wait staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful. We had the burger, sweet potato fries, and mozzarella sticks, all fantastic. Burgers were cooked perfectly Took deserts to go (crème brûlée cheesecake and bread pudding) and they were phenomenal! We’ll definitely be returning!

I dined at the restaurant with 4 people. The inability to split checks was disappointing. We spent 2 hours there, encountering subpar service. The beer tasted stale, the baked potato was overcooked, and the vegetables were extremely overdone. We ordered salmon and 3 steaks, yet it took 1.5 hours to receive our food. Additionally, we were not provided with straws and napkins initially, which added to the overall inconvenience of our dining experience. The only great thing about the restaurant were the chairs on wheels.

The food is good. You need to know that you will have a good meal. Especially if you happen to be waiting in that long line for Gorilla bbq. 🙂

I’ve included pictures here. We ordered prime rib (medium), shrimp scampi with pesto linguine, clam chowder, and ravioli (child portion). The brownie with vanilla ice cream was super good. The food is solid and the food reminds me of Original Joe’s. You know what you’re going to get here.

The atmosphere is old school but that’s not bad. Take a look at the pictures on the walls and the awesome dioramas of Pacifica when trains ran through town. Let me know what you think.

was peaceful protesting for a school organized activety on the side of the highway, we are walking by and the owner comes out and does sieg heil at us 10 times over?? she proceeds to cuss out highschoolers and calls us savage and berates female students especially it was very unnecessary and extremely inappropriate to do sieg heil at a bunch of high schoolers.
