Vallarta Mexican restaurant in Placerville, CA, serves up comfort classic Mexican food. Great customer service and consistent food flavors.

Simple, understated restaurant giving off 1980s vibes. They can accommodate largish party of diners, but it is recommended to call ahead to verify. The staff is welcoming. The restaurant has a separate bar and dining area. The food is hearty and filling. Safe seasoning and flavors..For dine in, they provide complimentary chips, red salsa, and hot bean dip. They have signature dishes of molcajetes. Impressive sight to behold of a huge molcajete (mortar bowl) filled with chicken, steak, shrimp, and veggies served in hot melted queso or hot creamy Chipotle sauce. Huge serving size. Being lactose intolerant, I have never tried it. But the sight of it always makes me pause and gawk and wonder what it tastes like. My go to’s are the shredded beef and chicken crispy tacos. Simple traditional flavors. They have lunch specials offered during the week that run about $12.50. Non lunch specials- one entree combination plates run around $12.50, two entree $16.50, and three $19.50.

Food is good, service can be just a tad slow on busy nights, but week days are great. Atmosphere is decent. My only gripe is that the booths are a bit too narrow and tables are too low. Being 5’11” it’s not the most comfortable place.

Showed up to a guitarist playing to create a really nice atmosphere. Food was delicious and portions were huge.

Delicious. I had fish with garlic sauce – it was lovely and very garlicky. The refritos in a cup were cute – and very tasty, cup and all. We ate out on the front patio, comfortable seats in a nicely shady spot, quiet despite cars going by only a few feet behind. We’ll be coming here again, on our trips through the area.

Great place close to Placerville!
We were there for a funeral, and after we were looking for a place that would be open by 7:30pm it was Vallarta!
Very good service and the food auténtica comida mexicana!

Wasn’t impressed. $30 for the smallest plate of fajitas I ever eaten. Didn’t even get refills or tortillas with the fajitas. Skimpy beans and rice. Not worth 50+$

Love the fajitas. But their beans and rice are some of the best.

Very disappointed with our experience. The staff were pleasant and the service was average. But the food was awful. No one was happy with their meal. We aren’t really ones to complain, so we just got thru our meal and left. But no one ate more than a third of their plate and no one wanted a to go box. The biggest disappointment for me was that the carne asada plate I ordered was supposed to be a steak and came out in strips – cooked very well done, completely dry and chewy. Huge waste for $23 plate. Would not recommend and will not return.
