Uyghur Lagman House typically refers to a type of restaurant or eatery specializing in Uyghur cuisine, with a special focus on laghman, a traditional Uyghur hand-pulled noodle dish. These establishments are popular in cities with Central Asian, Uyghur, or Muslim communities, and they often serve as cultural hubs for Uyghur diaspora.
Key Features of a Uyghur Lagman House:
1. Signature Dish – Laghman:
Laghman consists of hand-pulled noodles topped with stir-fried vegetables and meat (usually lamb or beef), seasoned with garlic, cumin, peppers, and tomato-based sauce.
The noodles are chewy and long, made fresh in-house using traditional hand-pulling techniques.
2. Other Popular Dishes:
Polow (Uyghur pilaf): Rice cooked with carrots, lamb,

This is one of my go to soul food places. There is usually a large family eating or birthday party. Lots of life here. It can definitely be quiet during the day, though.
Food is in my opinion great. Im not from the region and haven’t had much to compare it to. I cant speak to authenticity, but I enjoy it, especially on a cold day.
Im a bit of a spice fiend, and to me the food is mild, but they provide a nice spicy pepper paste in oil that can add heat on demand to any of the dishes.
Its also nice to come and have tea and an appetizer and chill during the day.
Service has been quick in person any time ive went. I dont even know if they offer delivery.

We really wanted to like this place, but sadly our first (and only) experience was not good on any level: food, service, or value. Delivery was nearly 3 hours late – they’d lost the order – then the food was simply left on our porch with no email or text alert and without the driver (who got a 20% tip in advance) even ringing the doorbell, and the food was not worth the long wait. We had asked for lamb in most dishes, but the meat was so over-cooked and flavorless that we honestly couldn’t tell you whether it was lamb or beef. The meat inside the Samsa and Manta (photo) was overcooked, gray, and flavorless. The lamb shish kabob was tough from lots of connective tissue and also lacked identifiable lamb flavor. And the Uyghur Polo (photo) was mostly overcooked, dry rice – not a lot of meat, which was okay, since the meat was also dry and overcooked, almost burnt, and there were big chunks of fat that were not really edible. We did like the Black Fungus Salad (tastes better than it sounds), the hand-pulled noodles (photo) had a nice texture, and the milk cake was a tasty dessert. But this food is not cheap, so it was a lot of money to pay for such a terrible delivery experience and tasteless, overcooked appetizers and main courses.

The best Lagman in the Chicagoland area. I hope they keep the quality and quantity consistent. They sincerely make an effort to raise their service standard and train their staff after an unpleasant experience they made sure we got good service. The food is delicious and amazing and great outdoor seating

This was my first time at Uighur Lagman House, and I was excited to try it out. I ordered the special lagman, which was absolutely delicious — the broth was flavorful, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Definitely a highlight of the meal.
I also tried the mantu, but unfortunately, almost every piece was ripped, and the meat filling had a strange taste, so I didn’t really enjoy it. Service was also a bit frustrating. I specifically ordered the special lagman again, but our waitress brought out the homemade-style lagman instead. When I mentioned it wasn’t what I ordered, she insisted it was basically the same except for spinach, which wasn’t true to what I had asked for. Eventually, I had to ask her again to bring me the correct dish.
The cold starch salad was fine, but nothing memorable.
Another thing worth mentioning — their social media presence could use improvement. When the restaurant first opened, I found their Instagram page and left a simple question about their noodles. Instead of getting a reply, I was blocked. Not exactly the best way to treat potential customers.
Overall, I’d come back for the special lagman since it was excellent, but I hope they work on their consistency, customer service, and professionalism both in-person and online.

So happy to find real food in Chicago. We liked the hospitality and Special Lagman – signature Uyghur dish and salads, fish and desserts I appreciate even you busy to serve our table in very high level. Also try the Uyghur Milk Tea – that’s fantastic and I wish it would with Kaymak (Cream)

I visited Uyghur Lagman House with my family today, and loved this place. My mom visited me in Chicago and she was really excited about checking out an Uyghur restaurant here. The food here is delicious, service is attentive, the atmosphere is friendly. Funny enough, my husband once helped a random guy who had an issue with his car on the road, and the guy was really grateful and gave him some samsas to reciprocate. And when husband got home he finally tried the samsa and it turned out really delicious . He got even a bit upset that he never asked where it was from. And today when we tasted the samsa in ULH , he realized that was it! It was that memorable samsa from the random driver I would definitely come back again and try more things.

It was our first time there. By evening, everyone had a stomach ache. The dough was almost raw. We only ate a little bit each. The lagman didn’t taste good at all.
