This is a decent place for sushi. We ordered a variety of rolls and sashimi and enjoyed all of it. It wasn’t over the top delicious, but it was good. The only dish I couldn’t eat was the salad. I love salad and ginger dressing but this looked so unappealing. The lettuce was not fresh and looked wilted and was drowned in dressing. Ginger dressing is normally a bit thick but this was thin and runny. I didn’t eat it. The service was good, which was a plus.

Over the past 2 months I’ve had the privilege of getting to work at Utage Sushi bar I’m so happy I’ve gotten to expand my serving experience and have gotten to meet a lot of amazing people while also having a great time in a great atmosphere. It’s sad that former employees and colleagues who have already moved onto other jobs are consistently attacking the owners and sending them hateful messages trying desperately to make them feel bad for firing them after they had stolen , borrowed money without paying it back , treated other servers and the owners with the most disrespect you could imagine , breaking into the restaurant after hours and so much more. I’m so happy that the restaurant is onto better things and has some of the sweetest servers. I’m proud that I’ve gotten to work there this summer before going to college and that I’ve gotten to meet tons of amazing customers.

Server was really nice: however, this was unable to save us from the food. Ordered the domo plate, veggie tempura plate, bagel roll, and a chicken karaage ramen with tonkotsu broth. The tuna sashimi tasted frozen and bland. The octopus was really chewy and rubbery. The saving grace for me was the salmon pieces that were somewhat decent.

Service was good but the food given it’s price point was the low light. For the price of the sushi there I might as well get the same quality at my local Kroger at a lower price. If they could lower the prices of the sushi they are serving or have better deals it’d be worth it since the quality of the rice, fish, etc. were just so subpar. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere

This has been our go to place for 15 years. Sadly, it appears to be under new management and things have gone down hill. The food is now small and bland. Many of the rolls are no longer on the menu. The tempura is overcooked. We have been in five times over the summer and several times, we were the only folks in the place. I hope they can right the ship quickly, but I fear it’s the end of an era.

I had the unfortunate experience of working for Helen and James Park who currently own this restaurant. They require that each server tip out 7 percent of their tips directly to the owner ONLY. This is not only illegal, it is morally wrong. The food is unbelievably old and needs to be tossed. I have personally seen moldy pumpkin and other foods sitting on the tops shelves in the kitchen refrigerator. These owners are currently thousands of dollars in debt to the company they buy their food from and have to keep refreezing and reusing the fish and other seafood. They recently fired their manager, Amy, who had worked there for 9 years (through multiple sets of owners) because she refused to work a manager position for 10 dollar per hour. They gave her a pay cut, then fired her for no other reason than lack of funding. Overall, I would not eat here, work here, or give Utage a passing health score!
