This joint is SO LOCAL and small town feeling. Only reason I take a star off is because it’s hard to not feel out of place here if you’re not a regular. Went in on a Thursday and it was slamming – with a weird karaoke-but-not-karaoke open mic night (it seemed only friends of the bar could sing, and they had a gig going on.)
Don’t get me wrong. Service was perfectly friendly and welcoming and good. It’s just the vibe of going here as an out of towner (which I’m really not – I grew up here, I’ve just been away a long time and the whole place has turned over) is a bit awkward.
If you’re the type that makes friends anywhere you go, it’s great. If you’re a sit and chill in the corner type, not so much. But not bad. Just know what you’re getting into.
The “hogs only” parking was enjoyable. This could make for many a meme….

Really great local “Dive Bar” with great food and beer selection. Sadly, I just heard that after 55 years in business. Michael’s Inn will be closing their doors for good on December 2023.

Michael’s Inn is a true gem of Raritan. Food cooked by a man who spends the time and effort to develop deep flavors in both his gravy (mushroom gravy) and an excellent sauce. Definitely worth a stop for good company, refreshing beverage and delicious food. I will see you there!

I would love to give this place a good review but it is physically impossible for me to do so when the female bartender is the BIGGEST B of all time… I wasn’t there to drink, this is an honest review… she screamed at me about parking… and screamed at my buddy, so I thought we were in the clear… then she did it again! I’m sure everyone else there is nice and food is great but wow is she miserable.. and she seems to be following the model of misery loves company

Food has always been delicious and high quality. Owners and staff are always welcoming and friendly. Food is grill-cooked right in front of the bar, which is really cool to watch. There is also a collection of photos of local military personnel and heroes, including my brother who is a Marine. Always a good, reliable place to get good food!

Went there to see a band called Fully Loaded they were awesome. The food and drink were good and the staff was friendly especially the owner Lauren. We were sad to find out they were closing at the end of the year.

Michael’s is everything rolled into one. Some nights it’s like a relaxing beer at home, or it can be like an extreme frat party! No matter what night it is, the place is a family member you never forget. You can’t find better people to visit, even if they’re having a bad night… try to remember they’re human, not just “your servers”! The band choices are usually outstanding, a variety of genres to please most tastes. Thursday night karaoke with George is the place to be. The food is pure comfort, and the meatballs are addictive!! I’ve only been going to Michael’s Inn for 16 years so I’m not a lifer yet, but I sure hope to spend another twenty years going to my favorite hideout.

Small little bar, parking is not the best and bartender had a chip on her shoulder the night I was there. Moved my drink to another location and gave my seat away while I used the restroom. Then said don’t worry I didn’t put anything in it. And didn’t think you would mind moving. So I left and went to another bar.

I’m a local from Branchburg, stopped in, had a great lunch and beers/bourbon. Bartender Lisa was a true delight! . Local crowd was friendly. New cook there I heard, José. Known for his cuisine and AMAZING chili which I will have to stop back and try. Cheers y’all.
