When I walked in the place was very clean, the lady in the front was friendly and seated me and my friend right away.
The waiter Raza was also very friendly, polite, & knowledgeable about the dishes to eat and was very attentive to us.
The food is also very traditional authentic Desi food which I truly enjoyed. In addition the portions were very generous. I highly recommend this place!
Thank you

There is no doubt that the dining area is very nice and can be considered “fine dining” – however the food did not live up to the fine dining standard.

We ordered a Karahi and Reshmi Kabob with some Naans, on the menu it said that it would take 25-40 mins for Karahi, which checks out for a fresh Karahi. Our entire order arrived within 7-8 mins, although we appreciate the fast service, we could tell that the Karahi was not made to order but rather reheated.

The taste itself was not bad, but for those who eat Karahi know it’s best served fresh and made to order. The naans were a really good size though.

Came here for lunch to try this restaurant after 20 years and I can see why it’s so empty. Ambiance is great and clean, however the service is bad, we had to ask to order and waited 10 minutes, clearly that’s not fine dining. Unhygienic restrooms the place used to be ran by Pakistanis, now they are clearly Indians. Food feels lazy and came really quick. Biryani was watered down and had no flavor at all, usmania grill sizzler was dry and one of the waitresses hair was in the food. On top of all this, the price for three people was $60 and was not worth it. Please save yourself some money and time and go to ANY other Pakistani restaurant on Devon avenue

It’s always been our favorite place to come by when we crave any desi foods. They have almost everything and nothing ever goes wrong. I love the staff the atmosphere and how well maintained it is. One of the dish we got is chicken 65, we take this quite often but this time it was so spicy that it got me cramps. Chef please hold spice level to somewhat it’s bearable. Thank you

Usmania Restaurant at Devan Street 8 is a wonderful and high-quality spot for authentic Pakistani cuisine. The restaurant offers a delightful menu featuring flavorful dishes like BBQ, biryani, nihari, and traditional desserts, all served in a warm and culturally rich atmosphere. The cleanliness, service, and overall presentation are truly commendable. Towards the end of our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Sultan Sahib, whose personality is incredibly entertaining and welcoming. He speaks to customers with great respect and kindness, reflecting the true spirit of Pakistani hospitality. The taste of the food was absolutely delicious, and Sultan Sahib truly upheld the high standards of our traditional hospitality.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional in Every Way!

Five stars are not enough for Usmania Restaurant! The food is incredibly flavorful and authentic—the biryani is a must-try. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and beautifully designed. What truly sets them apart, however, is the stellar service; the staff is attentive and goes above and beyond to ensure a wonderful dining experience. Do yourself a favor and eat here. You won’t be disappointed!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional Hospitality and Truly Outstanding Food at Usmania – Chicago

We recently hosted a large AACAP dinner meeting for Pakistani-origin child and adolescent psychiatrists at Usmania Restaurant in Chicago, with 45 attendees, and the experience was absolutely superb from start to finish.
Imran Sahib from Usmania coordinated the entire evening with remarkable professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail. Managing a group of this size is no small task, yet everything was seamless — from timing to service to the quality of each dish.
Every single item on the menu was outstanding:
Appetizer
• Chicken pakoras – perfectly crisp, flavorful, and a wonderful way to start the evening
Entrées
• Malai chicken – rich, tender, and beautifully balanced
• Chicken reshmi kabab – melt-in-your-mouth with exceptional seasoning
• Matka gosht – deeply aromatic and slow-cooked to perfection
• Chicken biryani – fragrant, well-spiced, and universally loved by the entire group
Dessert & Tea
• Gulab jamun – warm, soft, and exactly the right sweetness
• Kashmiri chai – a beautiful and elegant finish to a memorable evening
What made the night even more special was how consistently excellent everything was — not just one or two dishes, but every single item. The flavors were authentic, the presentation was elegant, and the portions were generous.
Many in our group commented that this was one of the best catered or group dining experiences they have had in Chicago. Usmania managed to deliver high-quality, home-style Pakistani cuisine at scale, which is rare and deeply appreciated.
We are truly grateful to Imran Sahib and the entire Usmania team for helping make our AACAP gathering so memorable. We look forward to returning — both for future professional gatherings and for personal family dinners.
Highly, highly recommended.

Had a weekend iftar buffet. We really enjoyed the choula chaat, BBQ items, chicken pakora, nihari, haleem, sweet and mango lassi.
Karahi gosht had a lot of smell to it
Being a weekend and price higher than weekdays I wish they offered more iftar items like dahi vada and samosas.
