Beautiful interior decoration, with lots of flowers and a dimly lit atmosphere. Soft Indian music played in the background. It seemed the the kind of place that would be well suited for an intimate date where both people would be totally focused on each other.
The staff was polite and courteous, and fulfilled my requests. The meal came in time, less than 15 minutes. I came particularly because I craved chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. It was nice, and smelled really good, but I will admit, it didn’t hit the way I expected it to. Wasn’t bad all the same.
Yes, I would recommend. I might try another meal here in the future, but not the tikka masala.

Fabulously tasty food, with variations on some classics on the menu, while avoiding just the standard BIR standard choices. The naga chilli chicken tikka starter kicks a lot harder than the usual. Great buzzy vibe set in a unique, vibrant decor in this rambling restaurant. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Located in a side street just inside the Old City wall boundary, it’s a destination eating place for the discerning and those ‘in the know’.

I am absolutely amazed by Urban Tandoor. I booked for my boyfriend’s birthday, they rang the next day to confirm my booking. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is great. Not an empty table in sight and all happy faces. Service was so quick and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. In particular, Raj, who checked in on us all night. We discovered this spot on TikTok through their comedic videos, and travelled over an hour just to eat. The food was gorgeous, especially the calamari starter. I had the butter chicken masala, coconut rice and peshwari naan, which were all stunning. The portions are huge so I took the rest of mine home, they provided a takeaway box, bag for my naan and a carrier bag. My boyfriend had lamb karahi, keema rice and keema naan, and we had a side of onion rings. We also had popadoms and dips right as we arrived. We also had drinks and dessert. Will definitely visit again!

We had our first visit at Urban Indian Restaurant, and it certainly won’t be our last! The food was simply outstanding — full of authentic flavours and beautifully presented. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel so welcome, greeting us with a lovely drink and genuine hospitality.
They went above and beyond to help us celebrate my friend’s birthday — even surprising us with a candle on the cake and a cheerful birthday song!

Urban Tandoor is a must try if you love good food and a good atmosphere. The Asian flavours are delicious and tantalising. We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary and wasn’t disappointed. The complimentary anniversary treats was a nice touch. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. I tried the chili monk fish starter which was very tasty. For my main I had the guinea fowl and the flavours were exquisite, also it’s comes with rice. My husband had the lamb Karahi but he asked for very hot as he likes it hot and the flavour and heat was spot on! We will definitely be returning here! Highly recommend this place!

I’m not a huge fan of Indian cuisine in the United States, I feel like usually it’s not great quality and just looks like a pile of unknowns, so I was very hesitant to try Indian food in the United Kingdom.
I have to admit I was proven VERY wrong with what to expect. The food was absolutely amazing here, the flavors were unlike any Indian food I’ve had in the US. The was way more complexity and balance with the flavor, the wait staff were much more friendly and kind compared to what I’m used as well. I was checked on frequently to see if I enjoyed my meal and have to say this is my favorite place in Bristol!

Absolutely unreal, easiest the best Indian I’ve had in the uk. The monkfish starter was packed with fish and brilliant value for money. And the lamb shank was to die for the bone just slid out. Also great value for money as it comes with rice and naan!

The best restaurant atmosphere I’ve ever been to! They announce birthdays and celebrations with fun music, the staff do what ever they can to make your experience the best possible. They even deliver out cakes with candles (we bring the cake in) all together with others having a celebration that evening. The food is wonderful too! Gorgeous vindaloo! I can see why Urban Tandoor have won awards, 1000% deserved!!
