Urban Punjab in Orange, California serves excellent Indian food that makes it well worth the visit. We ordered the dahi kabab, paneer shahi, and chana, and everything was really good, with the dahi kabab especially standing out as a must-try appetizer. The curries were rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the naan. The only downside is that the place gets very crowded and seems short-staffed, so you can expect around a 30-minute wait for someone to take your order and occasional service delays. That said, if you’re a little patient, the quality of the food more than makes up for it.

Highly authentic, great flavors and portions. Might be the best paneer I’ve had. Enjoyed the Chicken Malai Tikka and Dal Makhani as well. Ras Maslai and Gajar Halwa are good for dessert.

Good food quality and well maintained restaurants. Service staff is very nice and knowledgeable. We tried paneer chilly, mixed pakoras, some drinks, Malai kofta, sarasav subji and rotis. Also of course dessert also. Everything is tasty and match real Indian taste. It was my first visit and I impressed. Definitely recommend to other people try at least one time and you will go second time for sure.

Hands down the best Indian food that we’ve ever tasted! Visiting from Tucson, my husband and I decided to try Urban Punjab and left extremely satisfied with everything from the atmosphere to the food. Portions are fairly large, we had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Butter chicken (Murgh Makhani) was super tender, the rich tomato butter sauce was creamy/velvety, savory and medium heat was perfect! The lamb curry literally melted in our mouths, rich with flavor and not gamey. Basmatic rice was light and fluffy and the chili garlic Naan was delicately soft and charred just enough! Paneer as the appetizer was plentiful and flavorful with great texture.
Service was spectacular, we were greeted upon arrival and two workers besides our server asked us how everything was. If we are ever in the area again, we will be back! This restaurant is a must to try!

We were in Anaheim for a family vacation and were missing our home-cooked taste of food.

Amina and team at Urban Punjab 100% hit the mark. Suraj’s service reflected Amina’s cooking and hospitality. Food came out piping hot and perfectly timed. The masale are freshly ground, everything is made-to-order, and look as amazing as it tastes!

We can recommend everything we tried over 2 days of repeat visits: dahi kebab, chili chicken, chicken malai tikka, samosa, goat masala, chicken tikka masala, dal makhni, Amritsari channa, malai kofta, baingan bharta, tandoori roti…..SO GOOD and still amazing reheated in the hotel microwave the next day. We also had mango lassi, salted lassi, and sweet lassi.

This is what Punjabi cooking is all about. We will be back!

If I were to rate this restaurant based on food alone, it would be very close to 5 stars. The food was absolutely amazing. We’ll definitely be coming back for that!

What deducted some points for me was the service. The owner was incredibly sweet, but our server was a bit off. For example, he brought out Fiji water without mentioning it would be extra. My boyfriend and I were thirsty, so we opened it right away, only to realize later that no one else had Fiji water. We don’t mind paying for bottled water but it would’ve been courteous to give us the option of tap or bottled upfront. Instead, we ended up spending $10 just on water. This really didn’t sit right with me.

We also asked if we could switch seats, which the server denied, and when we requested to keep one menu since we planned to order more, that too was denied. Another surprise was the raita… $6 for a small bowl felt pretty steep…

All in all, the restaurant itself is fantastic. The food is amazing, and the owner’s kindness left a good impression. Service could definitely improve, but we’ll be returning for the food.

Came here on a Friday evening at around 6pm. Ordered the Masala and Chicken curry with a paneer and chilli garlic naan. To drink a Mango Lassi. We really enjoyed everything and the service was great! The flavors were well balanced and the chicken was nice and tender. We will definitely be coming back! I highly recommend this place!

The Punjabi food was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavors. Every dish had the perfect balance of spices, rich aromas, and comforting taste that truly represents traditional Punjabi cuisine. The butter naan was soft and fresh, pairing beautifully with the creamy dal makhani, which was slow-cooked and full of depth. The paneer dish was tender and well-seasoned, not overly spicy but rich and satisfying. Portions were generous, ingredients tasted fresh, and the food felt hearty and homely. Overall, it was a fulfilling and soulful Punjabi meal that left a lasting impression and made me want to come back again.
