The best Reuben sandwich that I have ever had. Great portion and great flavor. The combination of the Russian sauce and the sourkraut was great, not overpowering. The sour dough bread was on point, making this sandwich a must. The fries were delicious, a great asset to this combo. Great customer service and fast turnaround. I also recommend all their brats. Try this place; you won’t be disappointed.

The food was good, solid all around but seems more “German-American” and a tinge tipped towards the broader American palette. I thought it was fine and satisfied my German food hankering, but someone looking for an extremely authentic meal may be disappointed. Beers were good. As others have commented they’ve got a nice peek-a-boo view of the St Johns Bridge and Forest Park, but built the patio overhang 4 feet too low and the view from the interior is wrecked.
They have a small parking lot, be prepared to street park and walk over.
It would be high on my list of places to offer next time someone wants to meet in St Johns.

We decided to visit this place with a small group during happy hour, and it turned out to be a really enjoyable outing . The only small challenge at first was finding parking, which took a little time. However, we eventually discovered that there’s parking available in the park just about a block to the south, which made things much easier once we figured it out .

For food, I ordered the duo wurstplate, and it was a great choice. The sausages were flavorful and satisfying, and the meal felt hearty and authentic. One interesting surprise for me was the German potato salad. It actually reminded me a lot of what we usually call potatoes au gratin, which was unexpected but really tasty ✨.

Overall, it was a nice change from the usual places we go to. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was enjoyable, and spending time with friends made the whole experience even better. Definitely a fun and different spot to check out during happy hour .

I’d forgot to write my review earlier, but gonna add my 2 cents. Food was very tasty, filling, and good portion sizes for a hearty meal. Agree with the other diner that there had been some adaptation to suit American tastes, which is a shame, but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment.

I personally think the music choices could be much better; really embrace modern German music and leave the American pop behind. Make the experience more immersive and respectful of the cultural theme the restaurant is trying to emulate. We are in Portland, bring more of the experience and your patrons will appreciate it.

We went there with a small group for happy hour. Parking was a bit of a challenge but there was parking in the park a block to the south. I enjoyed a duo wurstplate and discovered that German potato salad is what we call potato’s au gratin. It was a good change of pace.

A booming German sausage fest on 2nd floor overlooking the grand…parking lot of a brewery, with a sneak peek view of the bridge. The view, really, is looking down at your car..

The outdoor seating is great ambiance to enjoy brats and brew. The selection of brew is immense and amazing, the flavors are great (subject to personal taste of course), and brats are good flavors too.

The service can be a bit pause-y depending on how many patrons but nonetheless very busty and attentive.

Nonetheless the cost to partake these German sausages will set you back quite a bit. A bit more than expected in ratio to quantity and flavor expected. Probably a solid 20-25% more than expected. Your better bet is just come for brew.

In summary, still a worthy little yet authentic feel of a German House of Sausage to check out, dine, and experience. If the owner would lower the brat costs, no doubt there will be a bee line out the door all day long.

Enjoy!

The spaetzle is different ordered on the side. That one is fresh !! The other – expensive fried pork filet is topped over day old german noodles. The side german Mac is ok. I think the noodles must come frozen. There’s no way I don’t taste freezer burn. This whole menu comes from a kindercare luncheon or maybe really a senior citizen- oh the pretzel. Definitely better ones at grocery outlet bargain market. The german girl durndle ‘fit is cute but she ties her bow on the wrong side. Trick. Should be the middle. Duh. You know if you went to Oktoberfest ever even the one on the back page.

Not what I expected, in a very good way. They have the German cuisine thing down pat. Great wurst, excellent German potato salad, good sauerkraut, and authentic German mustard. And an excellent selection of German and domestic beers. Can’t wait to go back and try the spätzle and dinner entrées beyond the wurst lunch menu.

Service, Drinks and food is great BUT I have one recommendation for management: rebuild the porch cover higher so that you can see the beautiful view of the St. John’s Bridge from the inside. It used to have a full view from the restaurant but the porch roof covering it really killed old the vibe inside. Maybe nice if you can be outside but that doesn’t work most of the year in Portland.
