Uptown Yolk is by far my favorite breakfast in Charlotte. The service is amazing. The staff is extremely friendly. The brunch playlist is a vibe and the food, I’m not sure who’s in the kitchen, but they deserve all of the praises! I’m so happy that they have made their return post Covid. They have the best chicken and waffles in the city. Be sure to make a reservation (Open Table) as the wait times can get lengthy depending on the day (Saturday and Sunday mostly). This black on business has me in a chokehold. You hear me! The grits put you in the mind of something that your grandma made. The sweet potato bread, my God and if you’re just starving and need to put something on your stomach really quickly grab a Biscuit. I mean the options are endless and you pretty much can’t go wrong with anything you order on the menu. Don’t walk run to Uptown Yolk. Yup thank me later.

I came here with friends for breakfast. I had the wings, sweet potato cornbread, and the French toast. The wings were pretty good. They had a bit too much smoked paprika for me, but I would order it again. The sweet potato cornbread and was very dry, it didn’t taste very much like corn or sweet potato and lacked flavor. I didn’t finish it. I also wasn’t a fan of the jam it came with. It was a bit savory and I’m unsure what kind of jam it was. The French toast left a lot to be desired. I got the caramel sauce on the side. I didn’t like it. The French toast itself didn’t look like French toast and didn’t really taste like French toast. It tasted more like toasted bread that was slightly sweet. I could definitely tell by the taste it was supposed to be French toast but that’s the only way I can think describe the taste. My friends both got the Wisconsin omelettes and potatoes and they really enjoyed their meal. If I’m ever in the area again (I live out of state), I may give it another try, but of course order something else. Our server (I wish I remembered her name) along with the rest of the staff were nice.

9/10 – One of the Best Breakfast Spots in Uptown Charlotte

Uptown Yolk is easily one of the best breakfast and brunch options in Uptown Charlotte. The restaurant has a bright, modern atmosphere with great music, and we were seated right away even without a reservation (Saturday around 9am).

The menu is full of creative breakfast dishes and elevated classics. I ordered the Valley of the Sun, and it was incredible—perfectly seasoned chorizo chili, a crisp corn tortilla, sunny-side-up eggs, queso fresco, and salsa verde. The flavors were bold and fresh, and the textures made every bite memorable. I also added a single buttermilk pancake, and it might be one of the best in Charlotte—rich brown-butter flavor and delicious even with minimal syrup.

My wife ordered the Benny Yolko (their take on eggs Benedict), and it was excellent. The side of crispy breakfast potatoes was a standout—super crispy, well-seasoned, and addictive.

The server was pleasant and the service overall was good. The food came out in good time. The food is absolutely the real star here—vibrant, flavorful, creative and clearly made with care.
Highly recommend Uptown Yolk if you’re looking for great breakfast or brunch in Charlotte.

Great experience!!!! The chicken wings had the best flavor, were fresh, and hot I had mine with the original waffle. My husband had the sweet potato waffle, amazing cheese grits, eggs and bacon. Overall 5 stars for flavor, service and atmosphere.

I had heard of this place but never been. Went with friends for brunch and the food was excellent. We had th sweet potato biscuit and gravy, sweet potato waffle, and beef sausage. If you don’t like spicy don’t get the beef sausage. Everything was so good and the portion size was appropriate. You will have left overs. I got the Wisconsin and a single pancake to go for my husband. When I arrived home he had to warm it up. He said it was one of the best omlettes he’s had although he had to reheat everything. You have to eat here!

Had an amazing experience at this Black-owned brunch spot! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was attentive making the entire visit feel effortless. The owner was personable, welcoming, and transparent, which added such a special touch to the atmosphere. You can truly feel the pride and passion behind the business.
It was a bit warm inside due to high temps outside. Ceiling fans might help with circulation as well approach spring/summer.
Cute spot!!

This was an absolute delightful brunch. We enjoyed the Sweet Potato Lattes, the WWIII, the Hash, and the Sweet Potato Biscuits so much! Our server was attentive, friendly, and stayed on top of our needs. Highly recommend 10/10.

This is THE place for comfort food brunch! … and it shows! Make sure to have reservations before showing up with others. If you’re lucky, you might be able to sit by yourself or with one friend at the bar (8 seats). The food is amazing, the staff is a dream, and you’ll never want to go anywhere else for breakfast or brunch. Paul at the bar kills it with his delicious cocktails! You know the food is fantastic because despite being packed, it feels like you could hear a pin drop (because everyone is busy chewing!).

This is my second time trying Uptown Yolk and it did not disappoint. I went for brunch and ordered the sangria/margarita (the name is escaping me) and I also ordered the french toast with chicken and added a side of eggs. The chicken was fried and seasoned perfectly! I took some home to my husband and he was disappointed I didn’t bring more. I am also not a french toast girlie but the dolce sauce on the side was a perfect complement to the french toast and fried chicken. My friend ordered the omelette with a side of potatoes. The potatoes were delicious and also fried to perfection. I also noticed they had a premium selection of liquor, this is def the perfect spot to take the girls or even a brunch date with your significant other.

This was such a cute brunch spot in the Uptown/Downtown Charlotte area! Definitely areas where you can take pictures and enjoy the vibe. Reservations are preferred especially on the weekends.

I had a reservation for 11:15 and was seated within 10 minutes of me arriving.
Our waitress Kim was phenomenal. They have a nice variety of menu items. I had the chicken and sweet potato waffle with grits and egg whites.

The wait time for the food once I ordered was longer than anticipated (about 30 minutes) but Kim kept checking in with us.

My chicken was extra crispy which I loved and seasoned very well. My waffle was a little hard, I prefer it to be fluffy. The eggs were cooked hard which was awesome.

The service overall was amazing, the food would give an 8/10 but would definitely come back and try other items.
