Before I say anything, I wanna say this – I’d drive here from Worcester for a sandwich after the one I just had. I seriously can’t wait to come back.
I didn’t even finish what I was eating before I started on this review. I had to pause and finish my sandwich beside it was just so good. When I first walked in, I was immediately taken back to the pizzerias of my youth in New Jersey. This place hasn’t been updated in years. Now that can be good or bad. Those gem grub spots tend to be stuck in the past.
Based on this, out of an abundance of caution and lack of familiarity, I did not go with my typical sandwich order, and detoured to my back up. I now regret this and want to apologize.
The kid with glasses at the counter hooked it up with a hot and hefty sandwich. I was surprised by how much weight the thing had! I normally don’t get my sandwiches toasted, but after driving around taking pictures of old mills in the rain, I figured something hot would be nice.
This sandwich was toasted perfectly. I’m talking spot-on. Melty cheese, crispy bread, inside ingredients warmed. The bread was so good. Toppings just the right amount. Great amount of mayo.
The sandwich was assembled so well that I only lost two hot peppers and was able to eat it in my car. The inside remained fully intact with no slipping or sliding.
For the price of $15 I got a massive sandwich and a local cola drink. They paired incredibly together. You’re getting top-notch quality for the price, and I could tell the guy who made my sandwich enjoys doing it.
We need to support institutions like this. These places are part of the foundation of America and without them we lose what little identity we have.
Why would you go to Subway or Jersey Mike’s for overpriced corporate slopwiches when you could support a business that makes better food and is owned by real people?

I placed a phone order for a steak and cheese BLT with turkey and a side of loaded fries. I was really excited to try this place for the first time since the reviews are great and people say it’s one of the best around.
Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite match the hype. When I got to my steak and cheese, there was barely any cheese at all, which was pretty disappointing. I was hoping for something really flavorful, but it just didn’t deliver.
The loaded fries were fine, but overall the meal wasn’t what I expected. I might give this place another try in the future, but not anytime soon—and I definitely won’t be ordering the steak and cheese again

I unfortunately had to call my order in last minute, and I felt so bad about it. The staff was still kind and reassuring, and they cashed me out with a warm smile and some laughs. I’ve eaten there before (Though it’s the italian grinder for me) and you get a well packed sandwich. I will happily return here again for another grinder, especially after a long work shift.

Very friendly staff. Overall pleased with our meals. Wasn’t out of this world, but was very good. I got a steak bomb sandwich; girlfriend got a roast beef sandwich. Fries were very good. I think the prices were a tiny bit high in comparison to the size of the sandwiches (we got smalls), but that might be typical for this area in the city. Menu has a great selection. Wouldn’t mind going again.

We’d never heard of refried fries until we stopped in here for lunch today. My friend said he saw the cook grab a pile of already -cooked fries and throw them into the fryer.To clarify, not one was crispy, they were all limp and greasy, not edible. $10 thrown away!

Pretty good sandwich place! There are about two or three vegetarian sandwiches to choose from. Got the vegetarian special, which is a toasted eggplant with a variety of vegetables (olives, lettuce, pickles, etc.) and it was delicious. Fries were excellent – high quality and crisp. Staff was friendly and fast. Good place to go for a quick and affordable meal.

I usually enjoy going here but honestly feels like it might be my last time, my fiancé and I ordered 2 grinders and onion rings. My grinder came out good but hers was a totally different story. She ordered a chicken cutlet and got a chicken parm grinder instead, we called up and they offered to make her a new grinder and gave a apology. We decided to take them up on the offer and drove back to the restaurant all the way from home to pick up the new grinder. When we finally got the new grinder and brought it home it was a half fast made grinder that was a huge mess (as seen in the photo) with the bun being completely separated and the bread being ripped up like in the photo. We tried calling again but at this point they were closed and no one was picking up the phone. If Uptown Sandwich fixes this I will redo the review but as of right now I give them a 1 star for professionalism and for their half fast job of trying to fix a situation they created.

Awful experience! This deli meat tastes terrible/out of date . Besides this bottom of the barrel sandwich . They handled everything without gloves . EVEN THE DELI MEATS ! You’re touching dirty cooler handles and touching my food . I don’t trust you or your dirty hands! Clean it up fellas.
