Pretty average spot, the hostesses we’ve had could’ve been more welcoming. If you’re looking for just a chill spot to eat out this is for you, but I wouldn’t celebrate any occasions here. Prices are pretty affordable and competitive with the area, and our servers have all been great. I’ve worked as a server at 3 different places and I’ll say that absolutely no one ever orders chips with their meal, so making chips the default side and upcharging everything else is what took off an extra star for me. Aside from that and the obviously annoyed hostess everything was great.

When I walked into the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was how clean it was. The parking lot was packed, which gave me a good sign that the food was worth trying.
While waiting for the hostess we noticed a compliment to the restaurant from a lady named Shelby at the register. (Pictured)
We were seated quickly and greeted warmly by our server. As we looked over the menu, our waitress explained the bread was made fresh every day, with options ranging from white wheat to sourdough and rye.
I was thrilled to hear this and ordered the uptown special – a breakfast sandwich with two eggs over hard (you could opt for one egg), bacon, American cheese, and my choice of feta cheese and spinach on sourdough bread.
To keep it healthy, I also ordered a bowl of fruit on the side.
We also ordered a second sandwich, which was the same but with a pancake instead of fruit.
The coffee was a bit more expensive than the hot cocoa, but it was well worth it. It was rich and flavorful, and the hot cocoa was made with sweet miss hot chocolate cocoa powder and water.
The coffee was served in an uptown café coffee mug, which was white on the outside and orange on the inside.
They offered to sell us a mug for $15, but we declined.
Overall, the experience was fantastic, and the food was delicious. Fresh bread makes all the difference, especially when it’s made daily.
We will definitely be visiting again. They got a four-star do the pricing structure was high.

I ordered the vegetable quiche with cinnamon raisin toast. The quiche needed some flavor so I added a little bit of their homemade ketchup. Super sweet ketchup. The cinnamon raisin toast came with icing sugar in the middle instead of butter. I asked if I could have cinnamon raisin toast with just butter. When the server came back he handed me the check instead.

The food was just okay. I don’t know how to describe it accurately but it felt like the drinks we got (coffee and orange juice) were both watered down. Trying to save money? Or bad batch? Not sure. The food itself was okay, but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was great and our server was very attentive.

The food at Uptown Cafe is really very good. The biscuits and hash browns alone are worth the trip. But it’s worth noting that when the restaurant says it closes at 2 p.m., I think it means, “We want you out the door at 2 p.m. Don’t even *think* of staying till 2:01 p.m. Get out!”
I recently dined here solo, as I usually do, and I’ve adhered to the 2 p.m. closing time in the past. Unfortunately, during my last visit, my meal was interrupted by a quick trip to the bathroom. (Hey, it happens.) When I returned to the table, I asked to have my second, untouched biscuit boxed up, paid my bill, and included a 30%+ tip. (Always feel guilty about being a solo diner).
At about 2:05, while I was trying to wolf down the last few bites of the first biscuit (everything else was gone), the waitress came and grabbed the biscuit plate without comment; I had to grab the small bit of the remaining biscuit before she scooted away with the plate and jam. She was rather brusque, but … okay. Fine. Que Sera Sera.
However, as I’m trying to swallow the last bite of biscuit, my coat gathered around me and one hand on my purse ready to flee, the manager/owner thought it necessary to come to my table and tell me—rather sternly, I thought—“Ma’am, we close at 2 o’clock. We’re completely closed now.” Last bite of biscuit in my mouth, I choked out the words, “I know. I’m just finishing my last bite.” As she walked away, I checked my iPhone. It was 2:10. I threw on my coat, grabbed my purse, boxed-up biscuit, and book and headed for the door.
[For the record, I can’t help wondering if they thought that because I had a book with me I was planning to settle in for a long, leisurely read. On the contrary, I was heading to a nearby Starbucks for a cappuccino.]
So, okey doke. They want the place empty at 2 p.m. Maybe they should put up a sign announcing that the kitchen closes at 1:30. Or something. Rushing folks out at the ding of the closing bell is not traditional American restaurant ambiance. (Germany and other European restaurants, perhaps. US, not so much.)
So, food: good; ambiance: Germanic. 🙂

I came in curious, and I left IMPRESSED! This location was always so busy with the previous restaurant. They were often on a wait. I have no doubt that Uptown Cafe will be in that same spot soon!
The menu choices were good with some traditional choices and some new options that were different. I had the Cajun Cranberry Salad and my friends had the Philly Steak with an order of breadsticks.
The food came out quickly and was delicious!! The breadsticks were a surprise to me. They were perfectly prepared with a crisp outer crust and a soft tender inside.
The salad I had was Amazing! They use a homemade dressing that was light but full of flavor. The combination of chicken with the salad ingredients was delicious, and I left wishing I had ordered two salads. It was that good!
Our server, Susanne S, was flawless in her menu knowledge. She also had that extra energy that makes you feel seen, heard, and cared about. It doesn’t work when people fake it, but when it’s genuine, it’s a great addition to the dining experience when it happens.
I asked to speak to the managing partner and my colleagues shared our appreciation of the food and the excellent service provided by Susanne. During our conversation we heard the story of a managing partner that had invested in this restaurant in order to leave a legacy for her children.
A great insider tip, the restaurant is still building their breakfast business, so if you want a great place to eat without the crowd, get there sooner than later. I promise you this won’t last!

The food here is perfectly edible. If you’re looking for simple breakfast classics, they you’ll be happy.
-1.5 stars because the corned beef hash uses chopped up lunch meat vrs a brisket style corned beef cut, and the poached eggs were not … poached. More of a sunny side up version of poached (like when they’re made in a poaching pan or device rather than the traditional way)

Wasn’t impressed today. Stopped by for a breakfast with my son. Ordered a #5 (full), got a half order (waitress did correct my bill). Ordered a side of sausage after realizing breakfast didn’t come with meat and it took longer than the original breakfast order (and there were only three tables counting ours so the kitchen wasn’t backed up). The sausage was very over-cooked. Couldn’t believe the ending price – $60 breakfast (including taxes/tip) for my son and I and we had two breakfasts, a side of sausage, and two juices. It’s just basic breakfast food and cost more than my dinner tonight.

Breakfast was great! Ordered the combo 5, with eggs, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. We added toast and bacon to it.
Hash browns were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They added onions and mushrooms to put scrambled eggs per request and they were done well also. The bread, biscuits and strawberry jelly are all homemade and are really good!
Wait staff was super friendly and we spoke with one of the owners who was also very friendly.
Everything is spotless, even the bathrooms.
They are also one of the only breakfast place that are open at 6am on Sundays, which is a bonus. If you want to miss the crowd, come early!
