Not the greatest ambience (bar was crowded and dining area was super kid friendly; loud throughout) but the service and food were great. Ordered a regular burger and impossible burger. Upgraded one of our sides to the onion rings but the kitchen gave us fries on accident. As a result our wonderful bartender/server comped our beverages. Definitely made our night coming here.

Food is pretty good, mostly typical bar type food. Bar service works, bar tender was quick and attentive. North Shore Swing Band was the highlight!!!

Comfy local bar atmosphere with great customer service and elevated bar food/beer! The duck wontons are so phenomenal that we WILL be returning before we leave the area.

Update: we returned three times before leaving the area and all three experiences were top-notch!

Where do I start? With the lack of ambiance, the smell of stale beer, the less than mediocre ordering process or the fact that you have to serve yourself?
Oh well, let’s start with the good, the flatbread pizza and the burger with fries…. And that’s where the good ends and the mediocre to bad starts. Do not order any salad. Horrible iceberg lettuce with some shredded carrots and a couple tomato slices. $14….(FOURTEEN). The tiny side salad is $7….utterly ridiculous.
When I ordered, I asked the person behind the bar how the wings are, if they were tiny and dry or big and meaty. He didn’t know so he asked somebody else, he didn’t really know either but then he said that they were big and meaty, probably because that’s what I wanted to hear, the picture below will prove them just a little wrong.
Overall this was the biggest let down of any Up North restaurant in 28 years, never again. I’d rather go back to My Sister’s Place, at least there you have friendly table service.
If you need to go to Up Yonder, come for the burger and the pizza, but never ever order a salad or wings. Save your money and save yourself from disappointment and frustration.

This place is fun! A little loud but much more sports bar than anyplace else in Grand Marias. So if you are looking for more of that casual feel give it a try. The live music is great!

Love the possibilities here… Exciting young owner with a family history of great foods. This is the Korean Smelt! An amazing adaptation on the local little fish! Just a happy surprise as it Pops n Drops!

I had the elote mini corn dog appetizer, which was delicious and generously portioned at a fair price. The place is nice and the waitress was really nice.

1.) THE BEST cheese curds. Duck wontons are a must try.
2.) Large portion sizes. Feeds two.
3.) I love that the burger is cooked to request!! Food done perfectly.
4.) There is an additional charge when paying with a card. We weren’t told until after payment was processed. We would’ve paid cash had we known.
5.) Nice variety of pub food options – burgers, flatbreads, apps.
6.) Full bar. Beer selection is decent, not great.
7.) It’s a counter service pub. You place your own order, get your own water, etc. So staff won’t wait on your table but still expected a generous tip.
8.) Atmosphere is fairly divided… patio, dining, and bar. Multiple TVs. Enjoyed watching the Vikes there. Looks dated but I guess it’s a work in progress.

The menu this year provided better options with some of the best duck wontons I’ve had! We happened to be here during karaoke night which brought out a great mix of entertainment!

This was a pretty cool spot, we are glad we stopped in while we were in Grand Marais, the cheese curds were great and we both enjoyed the food. Atmosphere was definitely like hanging out with the locals, we’re assuming it’s a local hangout. Cool little bar and grill though, I’d definitely recommend the eats. Good beer selection as well.
