We went during the week, and were the only ones in there for a good bit of time.
As soon as you walk in the door you are transported to France. The history of the building is proudly printed on one side of a menu.
We had the pleasure of spending time with the co-owner, and got some great additional information. The chairs you will sit in are antiques, some dating back 100 years, some are from Poland.
The lentil salad, cappuccino and hash were exquisite!
If you are looking for a staycation, then this is your go-to to! They offer a continental breakfast, and choice of coffee, cappuccino and tras to overnight guests.
The mixed drinks are poured and measured so you get the same incredible drink every time you order!
Do not wait, try them out as soon as possible! Full menu, including brunch, available all day!!! No need to wait for the weekend to brunch!!
The food was absolutely delicious—beautifully presented, rich in flavor, and clearly crafted with passion. Each dish felt intentional, comforting, and elevated, making the dining experience exceptional from start to finish. The staff was equally remarkable: attentive, gracious, and genuinely welcoming, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth.
What truly set this experience apart was the personal touch from the owner, Francis Skrobiszewski. A very elegant and distinguished gentleman, he personally came to our table to share the charming and rich history of the building and the restaurant. His storytelling added depth and soul to the experience, making us feel like honored guests rather than just patrons.
Up on Market Bistro & Inn is not just a restaurant—it’s an experience rooted in history, elegance, and heartfelt hospitality. We will absolutely be returning and recommending it without hesitation.
Desserts, the chocolate cake is not sweet at all, very dark chocolate taste. The almond cake was also very good not too sweet either.
There was a spider in my raspberry i dont mind but it would be the right thing to let others know.
We loved it so much, we had breakfast two days in a row—and each morning was just as exceptional as the last. The omelets were perfectly cooked—light, fluffy, and filled with fresh ingredients. One had savory mushrooms and melted cheese, while another featured ham and cheddar, both served with crispy roasted potatoes, a fresh dressed salad, and toasted baguette slices that paired perfectly with their creamy herb dressing.
The Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was a standout, topped with silky hollandaise, briny capers, and paper-thin red onions. The accompanying greens added a perfect fresh contrast to the rich flavors.
We also ordered a Mediterranean-style starter with grilled pita, creamy hummus topped with pomegranate seeds and herbs, and fresh carrot and cucumber sticks—delicious and beautifully presented.
Late-night drinks at the bar were equally enjoyable. The vibe was relaxed but refined, with a creative cocktail menu and a bartender who made us feel right at home.
From the quality of the food to the warm, attentive service, everything was top-notch. Whether you’re staying at the inn or just visiting Frederick, Up On Market Bistro is a must-visit—we can’t wait to come back!
Francis the owner spoke with us and found my wife is also Polish like him. So he put on Polish music from WWII era and we had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. I had meatloaf and she had chicken, each was $26, very reasonable for a dinner plate. This has to be the most charming restaurant in Frederick. One of a kind place that is now our top choice.
