I recently visited Up In Smoke BBQ, and it’s the kind of spot that truly delivers on flavor. The brisket was a standout — smoky, tender, and full of flavor. I can’t say I necessarily plan to come back to Gainesville Georgia. But if I do, I will be stopping here. Customer service was EXCEPTIONAL, and the food was even better. Baked Beans, and Collards came out HOT. And the brisket was tender as can be.

Unfortunately the best part of my meal was the pre cut frozen crinkle fries! Ordered the pulled pork sandwich/stew and everything was beyond bland no seasoning what’s so ever sandwich tasted just of pickles and mayonnaise and the stew looked absolutely disgusting gave it a taste anyways and it tasted about as good as it looked! Not to mention lady at the front desk taking orders ignored me for 15 mins. Definitely first a first and last visit for me

Food fabulous! Brisket, ribs, pulled pork delicious and the bake beans are something special as well. Ordered the trio meat special with 3 sides and was impressed as the 4.9 raring is legitimate. The only thing that would be nice is a little more seating opportunities than available so the customer could dive into the fresh cut meats while their hot and delicious instead of bringing them home to get cold. That’s all. Great people and little business there. We will definitely be back

Looking for a new bbq spot and saw this place was new and had good reviews. The staff is super friendly and we chatted about the place while our food was being prepared. There is no sit down at the location so we had to eat away but no issue for me. I got the pulled pork sandwich combo and my wife got the slaw dog. My wife said she loved the dog and the slaw was super fine chopped and reminded her of her grandmother’s slaw. The sandwich was good and the pork wasn’t too dry and the sauce was a sweet tomato based which is my favorite style. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. We will be back to try the cheeseburgers that they told me were popular. If you’re looking for a new spot to eat and support some good people, check it out!

I had a great experience at Up in Smoke BBQ — definitely some of the better barbecue in Gainesville. I’d call it a hole in the wall, with just a couple stools to eat at the counter. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese, baked beans and a sweet tea to go and everything was great. The pulled pork was moist, flavorful and came with a good-sized portion (pro tip: ask for the spicy barbecue sauce). It was a baked-style mac & cheese which was nice and the baked beans were good, too,with beef and peppers cooked in. Even the sweet tea was spot on. On top of the good food, the service was kind and quick, making the entire experience even better. The only downside is that it’s a little on the pricey side, but still worth a try!

I wanted to support local. Tried it and must say I got what I was expecting. Mediocre. The wings were good. If you mess up wings that says a lot. I’m glad that wasn’t the case here. Brisket was not good at all. Seasoned but I’m a BBQ pro and the brisket was not it. Dry and looked old. No smoke ring. The Mac n cheese was horrible. I don’t recommend it at all. Lacked seasoning, flavor , and had no cheese in it. How do you sell Mac n cheese with no cheese? Im sorry but I expected better. The baked beans were good.B+ but overall a 4/10. I’m mad about the Mac. Maybe it was a bad day or their other options of food are better.

Brisket was dry, the attempt to pour the rendered down fat juices on it to help it was noticed, lack of bark was present. However to note; We did arrive there 2 hours to closing. Sides were very solid. Their own bbq peach sauce was a nice add, small kick good peach flavor.
Customer service was on point.
If I had to guess, pure white oak or a blend with heavy oak timber %.

Had the Brisket, perfect cooked and that didn’t trim the fat. ( Which made it that much better.) Snagged the Collared greens for both my sides and an ice cold Lemonade. Everything was delicious!
Price was a tad bit lower than other BBQ spots. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
