First time in since I moved here in May, and Holy cow was it an amazing culinary experience.
It took about 45 minutes for our food to be served ( we were there at 630pm on a Monday for the dinner rush, so it was crazy busy. So just be patient. The food IS WORTH THE WAIT! They usually have something unique on Mondays:-) )
We had a variety of dishes and everything was wonderful as well!
The chef and staff knocked it out of the park!
I’ll definitely be back when they get some Key Lime Pie in.

Once on Daufuskie easy to find using GPS/Google maps. Lots of parking for golf carts. Only a few tables inside so make a reservation if you want to eat inside. Patio seating available or take-out. We went for lunch in the off season. Likely much busier during the tourist season. Brisket on a bun was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, falls apart when biting through. The original classic sauce was to my taste. Not overly hot or spicy. Pork on a bun was also the same. Perfectly cooked excellent with added BBQ sauce. Buns were ok but did tend to fall apart towards the last bites. Mac & cheese was super cheesy. Noodles cooked well. The potato salad was very creamy but not a lot of zip to it. The servers were friendly. The bar has a lot of choices of cocktails and hard liquor. Outside seating was comfortable enough.

While doing some jobs at Daufuskie Island. We decided to have lunch from Up In Smoke. The service was excellent even though it was a to go order. These people are very friendly! The food was one of the best BBQ I have ever had!! Definitely recommend this place! We will be back soon!

Up in Smoke BBQ is a fantastic addition to Daufuskie Island’s dining scene. The afternoon barbecue is consistently solid, with a rich smoky flavor and perfect tenderness. The evening dinners, however, are truly exceptional—quite possibly some of the best food on the island, Haig Point included.
I enjoyed a mouthwatering double bone pork chop, while my wife was equally impressed with her grouper and crabcake. The restaurant is very small, so a reservation is a must. Though they’re still evolving as an establishment, if they continue on this path, they’re bound to become a true standout. Up in Smoke BBQ brings a fresh, delicious touch to Daufuskie Island’s culinary offerings.

Came here on a weekend trip to the island. I cannot rave enough about this food. We came from Texas originally where they take their barbecue pretty seriously and this place put Texas to shame. The coleslaw was so fresh and crisp. My husband got a sandwich and it didn’t even need sauce. I got the barbecue chicken and it was so tender and juicy. And there’s just so much I couldn’t even finish my plate. All these five star reviews are legit. This is a can’t miss when you visit the island.

We were so happy to have found Up in Smoke on our trip! We ended up eating there 3 nights! The pastas were wonderful, the steak was excellent and the staff was awesome! Thank you guys so much!

The food may have been good had we ever gotten service. The man at the bar was absolutely the rudest person I’ve ever encountered in the restaurant business. First he handed us menus & did not tell us we had to order at the bar. This seems to be a norm in this island. Then we went to order & he chose to wait on someone who cut in front of us. Not surprised as she was ordering alcohol & that’s where the money is. Then we were next & he asked if he could cash out someone behind us! We put down the menus to leave & he started mouthing off saying fine just leave it’s not like I’ll ever see you again!! And he is correct, after taking a ferry over you’d think he would appreciate the business! On our ferry ride back we talked to a couple who had a carry out from this restaurant & they said he was rude to them too! I have no intention to go back to this island & certainly would not come here if I did

Had a great Monday night dinner with excellent service. Had the ribs that come with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. Also served a side salad with a great vidilia onion vinaigrette. Definitely trying them for lunch sometime.
