A wonderful dinner with friends which has been a long time coming. We drive by the Grand Union every day, but haven’t taken in dinner together.
The waitress was fantastic! She has great suggestions about our menu choices which certainly didn’t disappoint.
The Grand Union will not disappoint!!

This restaurant is a gem and I was very impressed by the quality and service of this place because it’s situated in such a small town as I find it usually hard to find fine-dining restaurants with superb quality around here. The food was divine, everything I ordered was executed very nicely. It’s missing a one star because you normally can’t walk-in to this place as it usually requires a reservation. I was lucky that the chef gave my party an ok for walk-in that day. I totally understand that reservations were required due to limited ingredients because the closest city to get produces is around 40-60mins drive away. I thought that the staffs were super friendly and professional and that gave my party a very welcoming and comforting vibe to the restaurant. The menu price was actually affordable, and I also hear that the menu changes often depending on chef’s decisions and what’s available in the season. Either way, I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re visiting Fort Benton. This hotel was opened in 1882! Do expect service to be a little slow but it’s worth the wait.

This small restaurant rivals many of the “fancy” restaurants in Las Vegas. It was obvious that the food was prepared with thought and care. My mother loved the pork loin and I never thought I’d try sturgeon but it was delicious!
The view of the river was great and I cannot stress how amazing the service was. A must dining spot when visiting the quaint town of Fort Benton!

Absolutely fantastic. This place never disappoints, but be warned, it isn’t cheap. You won’t leave hungry though like some upscale restaurants. Portions are reasonable and quality is high. The menu rotates and changes according to the chef’s whims and seasonal availability, so don’t expect the same options every time.
Also, one of the only places to get good tea in the state.

We drove from Great Falls to eat at the Union Grille. Very worth it! The restaurant is right on the river. It’s old but beautiful! The food was superb Had the mussels for an appetizer, and they were the best we ever had! Husband usually isn’t the biggest fan of mussels but he loved them. They weren’t overcooked so they weren’t chewy. And the bread was very good! The service was prompt and the server was friendly and checked on us often. I had the halibut, perfect! My husband had the New York strip and lobster, which we shared. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious! We will be back!

We stayed at the hotel because of a retirement party a couple weeks ago. We ate dinner with 20 or so of my husband’s friends. We were apprehensive because it was going to be family style and we didn’t know what to expect. It was one of the most delicious meals we have ever ate ! Just amazing food and service! We highly recommend eating here!

Worst service in a long time. Was only a couple people in the restaurant. Took 30 minutes to get waited on and chicken sandwich was terrible. Its like they scraped the bottom of fryer and placed it in a bun. Waaaay to expensive for that terrible of food and service

A wonderful must-see hotel. Rich in history, staffed by professionals, extremely welcoming and comfortable.
I’ve stayed at this hotel many times over the past 10 years – and I’ve never been disappointed in the rooms, hospitality, food, or check-in/check-out.
I would particularly recommend staying during one of their seasonal wine-pairing evenings, or Mother’s Day, or New Year’s Eve.

One of the fine dining places of Fort Benton. The food is good. Portions on the smaller side. I don’t mind that – but some may. The staff is very friendly. They seem to be understaffed at times. Lovely place, lovely outdoor dining right by the Missouri River. I would definitely recommend it.

We celebrated a special anniversary at the beautifully restored Grand Union Hotel in historic Ft. Benton this summer. Our experience was wonderful, start to finish. From the attendant who took our phone reservation with a request for a room that faced the Missouri River to the evening waitress on the outdoor patio dining area, everyone was very pleasant and professional. The dinner chef at the hotel is outstanding, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. Our room had easy to regulate AC, but when not needed we could open the window to the fresh Montana air! The décor was lovely and the room immaculate. And all this for a reasonable price. We can highly recommend the Grand Union Hotel–and a visit to Fort Benton and the Missouri Breaks National Monument–to anyone visiting Montana.
