This small restaurant rivals many of the “fancy” restaurants in Las Vegas. It was obvious that the food was prepared with thought and care. My mother loved the pork loin and I never thought I’d try sturgeon but it was delicious!

Absolutely fantastic. This place never disappoints, but be warned, it isn’t cheap. You won’t leave hungry though like some upscale restaurants. Portions are reasonable and quality is high. The menu rotates and changes according to the chef’s whims and seasonal availability, so don’t expect the same options every time.

This restaurant is a gem and I was very impressed by the quality and service of this place because it’s situated in such a small town as I find it usually hard to find fine-dining restaurants with superb quality around here. The food was divine, everything I ordered was executed very nicely. It’s missing a one star because you normally can’t walk-in to this place as it usually requires a reservation. I was lucky that the chef gave my party an ok for walk-in that day. I totally understand that reservations were required due to limited ingredients because the closest city to get produces is around 40-60mins drive away. I thought that the staffs were super friendly and professional and that gave my party a very welcoming and comforting vibe to the restaurant. The menu price was actually affordable, and I also hear that the menu changes often depending on chef’s decisions and what’s available in the season. Either way, I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re visiting Fort Benton. This hotel was opened in 1882! Do expect service to be a little slow but it’s worth the wait.

Traveling, small town, nice old hotel, restaurant highly recommended … “no resv, sorry, can’t take you for an hour & 45 min.” though appeared to be several empty tables. Really? Ended up at a bar/casino-great hamburgers!

Steak was cooked perfectly! Very delicious, tender, and juicy. Soup was nice on this brisk evening. I’ll certainly stop in again soon!

Beautiful setting and comfortable, however the $43 ribeye steak was tough and flavorless no marbling no cap or rib crown almost looked like a NY Strip when asked the waiter he didn’t know the grade of meat came back said it was locally sourced and that I like being a beef producer myself from Florida and then said he was told it was prime that steak was far from prime and 2 paper thin slivers of squash what’s up with that wedge salad with half a head of iceberg lettuce and 3 bits of bacon was certainly disappointing due to our expectations spent well over $120 and then after I told waiter steak was tough he left check and never came back to offer desert or anything very bad first impression

One of the fine dining places of Fort Benton. The food is good. Portions on the smaller side. I don’t mind that – but some may. The staff is very friendly. They seem to be understaffed at times. Lovely place, lovely outdoor dining right by the Missouri River. I would definitely recommend it.

We celebrated a special anniversary at the beautifully restored Grand Union Hotel in historic Ft. Benton this summer. Our experience was wonderful, start to finish. From the attendant who took our phone reservation with a request for a room that faced the Missouri River to the evening waitress on the outdoor patio dining area, everyone was very pleasant and professional. The dinner chef at the hotel is outstanding, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. Our room had easy to regulate AC, but when not needed we could open the window to the fresh Montana air! The décor was lovely and the room immaculate. And all this for a reasonable price. We can highly recommend the Grand Union Hotel–and a visit to Fort Benton and the Missouri Breaks National Monument–to anyone visiting Montana.
