Union Dairy is over 100 years old and is a favorite among the locals. Great staff ready to give you wonderful recommendations. Atmosphere was great and makes you feel like you walked into simpler times.
They offer over 15 different ice cream flavors; Pretzel City, Turtle Sundae, Hot Fudge Sundae, Banana Wheel, Root Beer Float and so much more.
As well as, variety of great food; Willie Burger, Union Dairy Burger, Chicago Style Dog, Little Guy Burger and much more.
I stopped here with my large family and relatives to enjoy good ice cream. We had Rocky Road, Blue Moon, Pirate Booty and few others.
Everything tasted good and fresh. Next time you come to Freeport, stop by and enjoy some delicious food and creamy Ice Cream.
I recommend stopping here with your family and afterwards stop by the famous Lincoln Douglas Debate Statue.

Wonderful ice cream place, nostalgic feel and lots to choose on the menu. Just had a banana split, But others had shakes, and many other concoctions.
Lots of really great flavors to pick from.
We did overwhelm them with about 30 people in our group, but they did a great job of serving us in a timely manner and reserve the back room for us.

We are here for lunch on our way back to Rockford. The burgers and fries were excellent. Loaded fries were good though you get a point off for the bacos for the bacon pieces the dressing and cheese made up for them. I ordered the willy burger it was delicious.

Good old fashioned ice cream in a good old fashioned vintage 1950’s ice cream diner. I’ve been coming here since I was a little child and it’s always been fantastic. Whether you get a simple cone or one of their amazing sundaes, it’s all good! You can’t go wrong with the hot fudge. It’s out of this world. Although they no longer make the ice cream in house, it comes from an ice cream supplier from the great dairy state of Wisconsin so you know it’s good. The staff are friendly and attentive. The vintage diner vibes are authentic. Pull up a seat on one of the shiny chrome stools along the ice cream bar + dig in. It’s a real gem of a place.

The BEST ice cream I’ve ever had!!!! There’s tons of flavors to choose from and they taste fresh!!! This is not store bought by any means!!! I had cherry cheesecake and it was real, tart cherries!!! I had a hot dog and cheese curds too and it was all fantastic!!! The staff is super friendly and it’s super, and I mean super clean in there!!! The place looks like it’s from the 50’s and it’s amazing how it all looks old but new at the same time!! Even the curb out front was decorated with ice cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles and cherries!!! 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend!!!

We were driving by on our way home to Chicago. We thought this place was adorable and nostalgic based on the appearance.
Once we went in the vibe totally changed.
Kids working looked like they didn’t want to be there and were just dancing and swearing behind the counter inside the establishment. Killed the vibe right away for me and my wife.
Will probably never be back. Such a shame. It’s such a cool time capsule of an ice cream parlor but that’s quickly sucked out when you enter.

I have been here many times over the last 30 years. The ambiance is just great! Took my kids for the first time and they got so much joy out of sitting and being able to watch the servers making the fancy ice cream desserts. I was also a bit shocked at how good the veggie burger was!

It is a nice place and this was my first time going to Freeport. It deserves more. Seeing that it was a much larger town than it is now it makes sense of the condition this place is in. The people were friendly but it needs TLC.
