We had an amazing meal here, I’d recommend to anyone who’s visiting Hastings or lives there. It’s quite a small restaurant so I’d highly recommend booking especially on a Saturday night. But that added to the cosy/local feel of the restaurant.

Being so close to the sea, the food here was incredibly fresh, with specials depending on what’s caught that day.

Standout dishes were the mackerel pate starter and the seabass main. Delicious!

Wow! Amazing food. Had mussels in garlic sauce and scallops. Can’t fault the food or the service. Hidden gem of Hastings.

Food was lovely, lots of choices. We had mackerel pate, mussels a couple of fish main dishes and lamb shanks. Wine was very nice. The lady that was serving was great, friendly and attentive even though she was busy.

One thing that I have knocked a star off for was the atmosphere. On arrival it was a bit flat, no music (although once seated music was put on which helped), also one staff member in the kitchen/washing up area looked very bored (which I am not complaining about as that does happen) but it was off putting as this member of staff was clearly visible in the kitchen to people seated nearby.

Would definitely return as I loved the choice of food and it was delicious

Was there to dine alone. They gave me a window seat where I can enjoy the seabreeze as well as my dinner I ordered a local sea bass for main and all of it was so delicious. The sauté potatoes were crispy outside and soft inside (just like the texture of mashed potatoes).

The sea bass were marinated with parsley and garlic butter, the marinade did not take away the flavour of the sea bass, it was balanced so well that I can taste the freshness of the sea bass and also the flavour they added.

With the salad, I thought it was just a normal salad. But nope, there were cucumbers, bell peppers, green leaves, cherry tomatoes cooked to perfect ripeness.

It was also extra kind for the restaurant to have given me crispy squid on the side The squid was SO FRESH, not just soft (like the frozen ones). Perfect!

I visited two weeks ago. Two of us were initially happy with the food – the third person who ordered a vegetarian dish found it very bland. I’m sorry to say that my appetite disappeared completely after the man serving us spoke to me in a totally unacceptable way. No freshness of ingredients or skill in cooking them could justify his attitude.

You’ve tried the rest, now try the best! In my view this is by far and away the best fish orientated restaurant in Hastings. You can tell that the fish is really fresh from the amazing flavours and textures, and the fact that the menu is regularly changed and updated, especially the specials board, depending on what’s been caught that morning. The venue is situated opposite the Shipwreck Museum and has minimal external signage, so you could easily miss it when going past (refer to my picture to help you identify it). Friendly staff provide a great service. You can watch your food being prepared and cooked if you want to! The chef also comes out to either serve or to have a chat.

I ate at this restaurant twice during my holiday. We received our food very quickly each time. The fish & chips were absolutely delicious, and the sauce served with them was fantastic. The portions were large. The staff were very friendly — both the waiters and the chef. Once, they unfortunately couldn’t serve mayonnaise, but the second time it was available, and it was homemade! Compliments to the chef! We highly recommend this place!

Best food, service and atmosphere my family had in a long time! Attention to detail with the dishes (ingredients locally sourced) was second to none and owner Andy and waitress made us feel so welcome. Calamari was best I ever had and the monkfish and sea bass daily specials were delicious. Cannot recommend enough!

Thoroughly deserves its rating!

Great fresh seafood and attentive service in a gorgeous space. Stunning whitebait (see pic), a lovely skate wing and delicious sea bass made for an unexpectedly excellent lunch.

Suggest booking ahead just to be sure as it was busy on a late October Saturday lunch!

Great selection of seafood, although portion is not as large as I had imagined. Staffs were very friendly and helpful.

I had their plaice and rustic chips, the chips were very good. Highly recommend their cheesecake, it comes with double cream and tasted amazing with the cheesecake. Still cider is okay.
