I live out of town, and the first thing I want to do when I’m visiting my family in Iowa is go to Uncle Sang’s. They have the best sushi I have ever tried. We love everything we have ever ordered off which at this point we have tried most of the menu. 10/10 recommend. It is worth the drive from Cedar Rapids or Iowa city.

Husband and I went a few weeks ago. Excited to see Solon has a great sushi and pho place around. We opted for sushi this round but excited to try the pho next. The rolls were excellent and the octopus balls were pretty tasty. Will be coming back again!!

Pho is excellent. Ordering chili oil for an extra dollar though.
Overall, excellent food quality and atmosphere. My one item I keep coming back to is price point is high overall. The amount you get for a pho bowl is small compared to what you get elsewhere even though the amount is good for a meal just priced higher for what you get. Same for sushi – slightly higher but yes the quality is good.

Everything about this place is great! Even though it was crowded and we had to sit at the bar ( the seats were padded and had backs) we were served very quickly and efficiently. Our appetizer – crab rangoons – came within minutes. We ordered 4 different sushi rolls, and these came on sushi boats. Some of the best I’ve had. Everything tasted fresh.
The hard Cider on tap tasted better than the same Cider I’ve had from other establishments. My companion ordered the Saki and loved it. We spent over $95.00 so it is a bit pricey. But we took half of what we ordered home. Great presentation! Fantastic food! Great service!

Superb sushi in Solon, iowa? Facts. Everything was delicious. Somebody is working to get fresh ingredients into the midwest and it’s much appreciated. Our appetizers were late on a busy night, and they comped our dessert without us saying anything. Nice touch. I will definitely go back. Probably more than once. Another pleasant surprise was the plethora of drinks and cocktails. Yes Iowa, there is superb sushi in solon.

I visited this place in November 2024 for the first time since it opened. I liked the atmosphere, the food was great, and the service was good. Im not familiar with most sushi or pho, but I had the Pho ga and it was delicious! The sprouts came on the side, which is great for me because I dont like those. I highly recommend trying this place out and giving the Pho a try. I heard great things about the Bento box and rolls too.

We came in to celebrate my husband’s birthday last week. We knew the menu was going to be limited, as they just opened up, and were in the soft opening phase. Even with the smaller menu they did not disappoint! We basically ordered one of everything, even on the sushi menu. I was very excited when the pho came out – one of my favorite asian dishes! The broth was amazing!!! The cocktail we ordered was delicious-you could tell everything is made fresh and in-house. We are excited to come back when they have their expanded menu! Thank you for opening this in a quaint tiny, but mighty town in Iowa!

Have been to Uncle Sang’s twice and really enjoyed the specialty rolls. Impressed with the freshness and variety of sushi options. We ordered appetizers, which came out of the kitchen quickly, but couldn’t eat them because the server failed to bring plates/silverware. The specialty roles are inventive and delicious. We will definitely return, but hope to see the service level improve.
