This building opened originally as “Michaelis Drive-In” in the early 1940s and remained as a drive-in until the 1960s. It then became “Uncle Sams House of Pancakes Restaurant” (quite the mouthful) sometime in the 60s. We the current owners, Bill, and Pam Shinkle, reopened as Uncle Sams Pancake House in July 2002. We along with our three children Sarah, Jordan, and Dillon, have enjoyed serving Manitou Springs for 18 years and look forward too many more!

Cute place but the wait was absolutely ridiculous. There were empty tables, and we had a 30 minute wait. They took our order quickly but then it was another 30-40 min. We ordered diced ham and eggs – overcooked. And a pancake sandwich – mediocre. The side of potatoes finally came out after the meal was nearly eaten.
We could have made this ourselves at home. Thank god it’s cheap food.
Server was very nice. That’s about it. Probably won’t ever come back here. Was hoping for a better experience being that it was highly recommended.

Came here for breakfast today and had a really great experience. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, and everything moved quickly—my order was taken right away and the food came out fast. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, exactly what you want to start the day.

We stumbled on this place by accident, their sign caught my husband’s eye (cranberry orange pancakes) so we stopped in. We showed up 30 minutes before closing and we were greeted and seated quickly.
It smells like yummy maple syrup indoors, we got a seat outside, beautiful 55° day for patio brunch!
Parker was attentive, friendly, and prompt. Definitely a great meal after a hike at Manitou Incline or Garden of the Gods.

This is an all American, home cooking and comfort food breakfast place. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area for a classic breakfast. We tried everything from their french toast to the s’mores pancakes and the biscuits and gravy and everything was top-notch and tasty.

One of the best breakfast experiences I’ve ever had! The service was wonderful and attentive (but not too much)! The coffee was excellent, and I’m hard to please in that category, and all of the food was so so good!
I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area, whether a local or just visiting!

This place is so good! I am actually not sure why it’s not rated higher. The waitress was absolutely amazing. Very attentive kept the coffee coming, clearly knows the locals and regulars. The food was really good. Stuffed French toast with cream cheese filling and strawberries were perfectly sweet, thick cut bacon and just the right crispy hash browns. The over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. The portions were big too.
The theme is American. And the decore is all American themed red white and blue. Accessible entrance and bathrooms. I would recommend stopping here if you are coming to Manitou Springs.
