!! This is the best hidden gem in phoenix. I’ve been going here since I was a kid and it’s still nostalgic every time I go. Not to mention the food is always amazing. More people need to know about this place. Order the Honey Hot Wings. You won’t regret it

We were really disappointed with Uncle Sam’s this time we ate there. We were so excited to go there for lunch, but it was a let down. Being from outside of Philly & having Italian family back there in the business, Uncle Sam’s was our “go to” with the best cheesesteaks & hoagies around, because we used to live in Phx. Things have changed. The prices were high compared to what they were the last time we went. The hoagie didn’t have as much meat & wasn’t near as spectacular as before. It was just kind of slapped together. The cheesesteak was good, but not quite made like it used to be & not as cheesy as before. The rolls are different than what they used to be as well. The waitress was nice, but not as friendly as we remembered the employees to be. The food came quickly since there were only a handful of people there. Maybe it was just an off day for the cook. It still looks like we remembered inside & that part we love. Sadly, we’re not sure if we’d go back. If the food had been as awesome as it used to be, we would have been able to somewhat overlook the prices. There was no need to “happen to speak to a manager” because it wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t as great as before. Hopefully they will take constructive criticism in order to make the necessary improvements in the food so they can keep people coming back. Thanks for listening.

Nostalgic place that has been around for years. I remember coming here as a kid, many times. That being said: It has had some better days. The servers are more often younger and inexperienced these days. I.e. My order is taken and I’m asked what I ordered twice more. The food is solid and portions are big.

Ok so here’s the deal. The last time I was here was a year and a half ago. Over the course of several months, sitting at the bar, I encountered roaches. Both times the servers acknowledged it but just went along with there day. Today I stopped in, desperate as it was the only late night option. Man, they still have roaches, all over the bar which is only ten feet from the kitchen. I won’t be coming back and im going to have to report this to the city seeing as they haven’t done anything in years to address this. Im a local neighbor and this is disgusting.

Been going there for 28 years. Last 3 visits for the food inconsistent and my Italian grinder was terrible. The owner standing over the order taker is ridiculous . My order was wrong size sandwiches and paid for the large size not to mention sat there while getting cold. The had 10 people in the restaurant. Already paying high price food slacking and service for high priced not sure what you are going to get

This place sucks. The owner can’t even get to work on time most days. Tried to eat here a couple times. Hours say open at ten. But they never are. The employees are miserable. Just a sad situation.

This is my family’s favorite pizza joint. Nothing fancy but pizza is delicious and staff is always very friendly. My husband has been coming here for over 30 years and we want to keep Uncle Sam’s going for 30 more!

Four meat hoagie was tasty! Very generous on the meat!! Chicken strips were ok.good crinkle cut fries! The small pizzas looked really good with nice thin crispy crust that I want to try next time. Great service !
