Good coffee, good food, good service and fair pricing. They open at 6am. On street parking is metered. Not sure if alternate parking is available as there was a spot directly in front and I parked there. Parking meters accept coins or digital pay. Food came quickly and was very tasty. This place was recommended by a local who I asked the previous day. Not disappointed. This area of Duluth is unimpressive. If you are visiting the Duluth area for its beautiful scenery there is nothing much to see in this area. Lots of rustic old buildings that have plenty of history and character just not something I am personally very interested in.

Every time I’ve ever been here it’s been excellent, and with great service. I don’t live in Duluth, but every time I’m in the area I make it a point to get breakfast at Uncle Loui’s.

Rather than eating the very overpriced breakfast at our hotel, we discovered Uncle Loui’s Café. It was all uphill from where we were, but there is a big empty lot across the street which is free, so parking was easy. Inside is compact, but there is enough seating and the wait was not long. The service was quick. They keep the tables bussed so don’t leave you seat unless you let them know. When the restaurant you choose is full, and the locals eat there, you know the food is good. No exception here. Enjoyed breakfast.

Really busy place! Although it’s hard to find an all day breakfast joint. Everything was really good. I ordered French toast only to get to my car and realize there wasn’t any syrup. Not sure if I was supposed to ask for syrup or people normally eat French toast without syrup? It was really busy, so it’s understandable. Just glad I didn’t get all the way back to my hotel! The eggs and hash browns were pretty good as well.

We typically love small town diners. The price was great, but the food was lackluster. I got the hot roast been sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. The potatoes and gravy were decent, but the roast beef was like shoe leather. Maybe the breakfasts are better.

ULC is a great northland diner. It is not high falutin fancy or anything like that. But there are a bunch of menu choices, the service can’t be beat, and the food while not perfect is darn tasty. We go there nearly every-week and there are the occasional under-cooked hash-browns or bacon, but on the whole the food is great. Not too expensive for breakfast. There a bunch of omelette choices. Parking is on 4th street or the lot across the street. Go early enough and it’s not too busy. Go a bit late and it will be packed. But they cycle folks through pretty efficiently so the wait is usually not too bad. A classic diner. Highly recommended if you are in town

I can see why this place is top rated in Duluth. It’s so good. All the other food looked delicious, but the STUFFED FRENCH TOAST was so unbelievably delicious. Out of all the french toast i’ve had in my life, including stuffed french toast, this was the best. Especially the strawberry filled french toast, I don’t know what they do to their french toast, but it was so, so, so delicious.
