Social Profile:

Hi. I’m Louis Wong. Chinatown is my home. With over four decades of being in this community as a businessman, I’m using my connections to local produce vendors, fishmongers, butchers, grocers, and cooks to create the Cantonese restaurant of my dreams. This space is for the lo wah kiu, jook sing, and friends from all over the world. Welcome!

Cantonese cuisine spotlighted in a roomy, casual eatery with a festive atmosphere.

This place is famous for a reason. It’s always crowded and there’s usually a wait but well worth it.

The food comes out fast and the portions are massive. Always delicious and plenty left over. We were three and shared the Eggplant in Yuxiang Sauce, Singapore Chow Mei Fun and General Tso’s Chicken. The waiter was great and helped us with subs since we are gluten free.

There is a tiny bar up front but they usually sit people there to eat.

Came to Uncle Lou in celebration of Lunar New Year and food here is always perfect and spot on every time I dine here! This is one of the most popular spot in all of Chinatown, with a line that is constantly out the door (believe me, it’s definitely worth the wait!!).

Their Cantonese style food is always a classic, and the dim sum here is definitely my favorite! Highly recommend trying their rice noodles and dumplings! The decor and atmosphere here is also very warm and welcoming, definitely great to come with both family and friends. Definitely brings back a lot of memories of having family style Chinese food growing up!

Can’t wait to come back and try something new from their extensive menu of Chinese food next time!!

Excellent food! Long wait times, but worth it. I like how they gave us a free pot of green tea. I ordered the pork dumpling, garlic beef with scallions, crab fried rice (I think I would get without crab next time), and the eggplant was great and so was the bok choy

We went for Chinese New Year Eve dinner, so many people waiting for tables. We had reservations and we still waited 40 minutes. The manager & hostess came over to apologize. The food was so good, especially the peking duck, garlic chicken and the pan fried flounder. Will definitely be back.

Delicious food that exceeded expectations! Succulent, well-spiced, tender, moist Peking duck; delicately flavored and perfectly cooked seafood crispy noodles with fresh shrimp, scallops, squid and cuttlefish; fresh, meaty fish in a tasty ginger, scallion soy sauce. The dining room was tastefully decorated with well-spaced tables. Service was friendly, efficient and attentive. Reasonable prices and good portion sizes. A new find for us – we look forward to returning!

Warm, inviting atmosphere and very friendly staff make this a great little spot to stop for yummy traditional Cantonese food in downtown Chinatown. Highly recommend the Peking duck and scallops in black pepper sauce! Prices are very reasonable and everything is wonderful quality in a nice atmosphere.

I’ve been wanting to try Uncle Lou forever and it honestly lives up to the hype! Pro tip: call ahead for a reservation. I went on a Monday around 3pm and still waited about 20–30 minutes, so it definitely gets busy.

We started with the dried shrimp rice noodle rolls. Super fresh, soft and bouncy, packed with dried shrimp and cilantro. Really, really good!!

Next was the S.P.S.S.S. (salt & pepper fried shrimp, scallop, and squid). Flavor was great, but it was a bit over fried and slightly too salty for me. Still enjoyable though.

The dried scallop and egg fried rice with raisins, shrimp, and bacon is a MUST ORDER! Total staple dish and honestly one of the highlights. So comforting!

Our waiter suggested the sizzling black pepper beef short ribs. The flavor was amazing and not overly spicy, but the meat was a bit chewier than I expected. Still good.

For veggies, we got the cauliflower and oyster mushrooms in XO sauce, which was a solid pick and balanced out the meal nicely.

Overall everything was delicious and the service was very attentive. Bring cash if you can since they offer a 9% discount. I’d definitely come back and try more of the menu.

Uncle Lou was absolutely awesome. The food was outstanding, especially the lo mein and the fried rice — hands down the best we had during our time in NYC. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Portions were generous and the service was great as well. If you’re in the area and craving classic, well-done Chinese food, this place is a must-stop. We’ll definitely be back!

Ended up at this restaurant as after the marathon we realised we wouldn’t make our earlier reservation and this was a great find!

We walked in and as a party of 4 we were sat quickly, orders taken and food served without a wait time that felt bothersome. It was a full house and short staffed but they did well.

Loved the food, decor and fastness of everything, which came out hot! I’d recommend the seasome chicken, General Tsao’s chicken and the prawn and spinach dumplings

I will come again

My mom from Hong Kong is in town and had a hankering for some old-school Cantonese classics. These guys more than delivered!

The place was packed, but the staff sweet, attentive, and fielded all of my mom’s small requests and inquiries (extra choy, is it fresh, etc?).

She ordered the braised lamb stew with tofu skin (requested lettuce at the bottom of the clay pot, to soak up the juices); salt and pepper frog, tofu stuffed with bamboo and mushrooms; steamed fish with ginger and scallions. (She basically tested their chops by ordering a steamed thing, a fried thing, a braised thing, a stuffed thing.)

All passed with flying colors, especially the steamed fish ✨ ✨ We came out feeling cared for and fed, which is not so easy to do! Ty team Uncle Lou, we’ll definitely be back!

(They also have beer and wine, to celebrate and ease the way.)
