It wasn’t very busy, which made for a relaxed, enjoyable experience. Our server, Vladimir, was excellent — attentive, friendly, and incredibly patient. I had a slightly complicated order, including a to-go order that we weren’t picking up until later and needed everything packed separately. I know that can be a bit irritating, but he handled it graciously and with a great attitude.
The food was delicious. The cucumber cooler drink was refreshing and really good. We had the taco salad, which was amazing, and the shrimp fajitas, which were flavorful and cooked perfectly. And of course, the queso — always a favorite and never disappoints.
Overall, it was such a pleasant lunch that it’s officially become a spot I’ll come back to regularly for daytime meals. Great food, great service, and a genuinely enjoyable experience. Looking forward to returning soon!
I also appreciated the paid parking lot behind the restaurant. I hate trying to find street parking.
I love Uncle Julio for their margaritas! Love how they switch up the flavors with fresh muddled fruit. I chose not to go with the lavender special (personally not a fan of lavender), but the spicy pineapple was perfect!
We had a reservation at 6pm on a Friday for a birthday. Our friend had heard about the chocolate pinata and was excited.
Several of us got fajitas. They arrived on small, circular plates. People commented on how there was no sizzling at all. Mine were vegetarian, and I could not believe how small the portion was. $22 for what you see in the photo.
By the time we were ready for dessert, the restaurant was noticeably busier. Around 7:30pm we noticed every fajita order going by were larger portions being served on oval plates, and all of them were sizzling. Their portions had been freshly cooked, and it was clear ours had been pre-assembled and just warmed.
To top it all off, the chocolate pinata had pineapple chunks in it that were hard, acidic, and inedible. We were embarrassed to have brought our friend here for her birthday–she is new to the US and had been so excited since we talked this place up.
Our party is not going to be coming back. If you do come here, be sure to come later during dinner service.
The food wasn’t great though. I will go back, and will update when I try something new.
I got the Habenero Honey bacon shrimp which was overcooked, very spicy, but not too bad. My buddy got the house guacamole which was VERY good, but recommend the large. For dinner I got fish tacos, and my friend got the taco salad (comes with a taco she’ll bowl). The fish tacos lacked flavor but were a good portion size. The taco bowl was the same, not much on flavor but great portion.
All beer is in bottle, no draft. House margaritas was decent.

Their food sucks now. Their portion sizes have shrunk significantly. They changed their queso too, and not for the better. They removed all the cheese from their family enchiladas so now it’s the driest, most flavorless food ever. Seriously, Uncle Julios sucks now. They’re serving sub-par food worse at inflated Uncle Julios prices. At this point, you’d be better off going to California Tortilla where you’d get better flavor, quality and value for a fraction of the Uncle Julios cost.
But seriously – don’t waste your money or calories eating at Uncle Julios until the new owner decides to wise up, or drives it into an earlier grave. We’ve been Uncle Julios fans for years, and it’s been sad to see how quickly they’ve declined once new ownership took over.
