I’ve been eating here off and on for over 25 years. The last 4 years it just gets worse and worse. The prices go way up and the quality goes way does. Today I ordered pulled pork TX tator ( my normal go-to meal) and it’s half the size and more the half of the meat was ALL FAT. I maybe ate 3-4 bites of meat. The potato is always Texas sized, now it’s a normal tiny size. Terrible and disappointing. I’m going to need this business to get it together. Do better.

This is the worst BBQ I’ve ever had in my life, the place was completely empty and I can see why. They did not have any ribs, I opted for brisket and sausage. I’m appalled at the price I was charged, $17.49 for the portions received, my husband had a 3 meat plate, he got the same portions. The brisket had no seasoning, if it was smoked it was smoked in an oven. The baked beans were pork and beans from the can, no bbq flavor, the white potato salad had the texture of food processed chicken salad, I could taste no potato but something that resembles sour cream and the BBQ sauce, was nothing more than tomato paste with ketchup tendency. The sausage was palatable but it was not smoked either. I could not eat this, it was horrible, I cannot return. I spoke with the cashier who said she was the manager, the young lady did not offer to comp me anything but stated she let someone know. I did not eat even the white bread, left it all on the table, my husband forced his down because we paid. The servers were very polite and the restaurant looked very clean, I don’t know, maybe the regular cook took the holiday off.

Wasn’t the worst BBQ I’ve ever tasted. It just depends on what they are going for. If they’re trying to just be a fast service, get in get out, McDonalds version of BBQ than the quality matches. But if they’re aiming for top tier BBQ status….. idk. If you have nothing nice to say don’t say it. It’s better for everything to be fresh and run out than it is to make it through the day and have some to serve tomorrow.

Do not buy chicken from Uncle Dans. I just picked up at 12:30 pm today an Alabama White Chicken half & it was still bleeding in the container. This could kill someone! Luckily I had not taken a bite yet. I called back 4 times & was disconnected the 1st 3 times. I then spoke to someone who claimed to be a manager but could care less that they were serving raw chicken. Offered a credit but I told him “no thanks”. I will never in my life take a bite of their food. Also, the chicken still had feathers on the wing. I take raw chicken seriously. This has been reported from the protection of the unaware.

Been going to Dan’s since I was a kid for 50 plus years but will be no longer. The prices and the portions much less the taste have gone downhill. Ordered a Texas Tater last evening with turkey and both the tater and meat were dry. Husband ordered a 2 meat plate and the portions were less than one would get on a child’s plate. The green beans side was not palatable. Neither one of us could stomach the rotel or tomatoes in with the beans. And last visit for just 2 pints of sides (beans and white potato salad) plus a quart of mac n cheese was almost $30.00. You don’t get your money’s worth nor your appetite filled and for the cost the taste should be more than 1 star worthy.

Solo lunch today at Dan’s. I haven’t dined there since 2018 when I retired. Dan & crew were outstanding such a delicious meal. I had sliced brisket sandwich on a toasted wheat bun, mustard potato salad (my favorite absolutely amazing)with all the trimmings. Love the family friendly atmosphere, freshly prepared extensive menu with everyday specials. A Waco tradition most excellent establishment.

I come from a long line of slow-pit over the coals barbecuers, so I’m always skeptical, but I really enjoyed our lunch today. Everything was so clean, and it all looked new. Definitely coming back next time we’re in town.

I pulled up to this place yesterday for the first time.
The employee’s was super friendly, very helpful. The food was delicious. We had got a Texas Tater Potato with all the works. Oh, yeah, you have to get some of that peach cobbler.

Uncle Dan’s is a good BBQ restaurant. The staff was great, the food was really good and there is plenty of indoor seating. There is a drive thru if you prefer that route and the service was really fast. I had the two meat plate with two sides. I had the chopped brisket and ribs with mashed potatoes and baked beans. I would say the ribs were really good and the rest was good.
