Absolutely loved my experience at Umi Sushi in Grover Beach! The food was outstanding—each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We tried a variety of rolls, and every single one was a delight.
A special shoutout to our waitstaff, Helen, who was exceptional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations that enhanced our meal. Her friendly demeanor added to the overall wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant.

I’m honestly not sure what the hype is about for this place. It’s pretty small so they needed to seat us outside. Luckily, the rain had stopped. The parking lot is also very small. We asked for spoons for our miso soup and never got them. They have a kimchi sampler which was meh as was the bulgogi gyoza. So was their house salad. The sushi was good but not outstanding. Maybe this is the only real sushi option in Grover Beach? We won’t be back.

We came here for lunch, and the prices seemed a little expensive for the sushi rolls, but we still gave this place a shot, and I’m glad we did.
The fish was great quality and it was absolutely delicious. I had the Crunch and Munch Roll, and it was the best sushi roll I think I’ve ever had. My friend had the grilled fish collar, and it was so tender and delicious.
The miso soup, to my surprise, did not have any tofu in it – which i thought was strange… but the soup itself was very flavorful and well seasoned, so we were still happy with it.
We will definitely be back for more delicious food.

The food was average at best and the portions were very small. I waited a long time to order and again waited a long time for the food. A male customer who sat down much later than I did was served noticeably faster.
I was then asked to change seats for no clear reason, and the staff’s tone was extremely rude, as if I had no choice. After I moved, no new customers were seated at my original table, which made the situation even more confusing.
Throughout the entire meal, the staff barely checked on me. Only when I was almost finished did they suddenly ask how the food was, which felt completely insincere.
Based on this experience, I strongly suspect gender discrimination.

Very fresh, never fishy. Clean, i have watched them clean chairs and seats between servings. My favorite is sashimi salad. Cucumber and lemon in water. Owner/ chef extremely professional. Best sushi Central Coast.

Very yummy! I had the chicken Teriyaki and it was very good and on par with my normal Teriyaki experiences. My husband, who is a seasoned Sushi lover, said the Sushi was phenomenal (and he is extremely picky). Our only lament is that it is much too expensive to enjoy on a regular basis. The tab was literally twice what we typically pay at our favorite Sushi restaurant in Southern California.

Favorite sushi place! Been coming here for over a decade. Mom and pop type but everything is always fresh and I’ve never had a bad or disappointing experience. both the yummiest rolls and beautifully plated.
