Food was great! This will be my first and last time at this establishment however. Came on a Wednesday where it’s advertised by the front desk and on the menu that Wednesdays are half off chef’s special sushi.
Fantastic! My partner and I order based off this to get the check and realize it’s all full price. When I ask of this, they say “That’s every Wednesday other than if it falls on a holiday”.
I ask the manager Where this is advertised as this holiday exclusion is nowhere on the menu and was not told to us by our waitress. I ask how are your customers supposed to know this & she tells me it’s just common knowledge that places don’t run specials on the holidays. What a joke. Most places run holiday specials, not the opposite! Food was great, service mid tier, false advertisement sucked. Beware the false advertising.

Food is good and drinks are good to ok, we did not enjoy the fact that at the moment we put our chopsticks down the waitress wanted to handout the check, we still had more than half of our cocktails. Did not appreciate feeling rushed, we said we were not ready , then 5 mins after we declined the check, she approached us again asking about it once more, minding the place was half empty, so not busy and no rush to turn the table.

One of the better sushi options in NW Indiana. Fish was good but overall selection was a little lacking. Hand rolls were well assembled and decently sized. Would have liked to see more than 1 toro option.
Was very happy to see and hear about their separation and prep for those that need to eat gluten free. The waitress was very knowledgeable on the topic.
Dining area is not very big so if you have a larger party, be sure to make reservations. Restaurant is on the 2nd floor and I did not see an elevator for handicap accessibilty.

I ordered seaweed salad and the Umi and Mamacita sushi rolls. Everything was fresh, tasted good, and was beautifully plated. Prices are fairly reasonable. My bill was $29, and that included a shot of top shelf liquor.
*SERVICE*
My server was attentive without being annoying. She brought everything I asked for without being reminded, and she packaged up the food I could not eat after I was full.
*AMBIENCE/CLEANLINESS*
The vibe and decor don’t strike me as a sushi lounge, but whatever, right? The chairs are cloth and had some stains, which kind of grossed me out but I got over it. Everything else appeared clean.
*PARKING*
There are parking spaces out front. They are often full but someone is usually leaving if you wait a few minutes.
*OTHER NOTES*
As far as I could tell, they are not ADA-compliant unless there is an elevator in the back or somewhere else that I did not see. To get up to Umi (which is above their sister restaurant, a steakhouse called PRIME) you have to go up a flight of about 15 stairs.

This place is amazing! The service is always great and everyone is super quick. The food is amazing and tastes super fresh. Their happy hour prices are also unbeatable! If you’re looking for a good, delicious restaurant, this is the place!

Ordered to go and the amnt of wasabi they gave for each roll was SO TINY! Gyoza I heard was really good and I was disappointed because it tasted mediocre. Not sure what type of dumpling they were serving that night but it had corn in it and tasted very odd. Got the Umi roll and the Angry wife w/ an order of cali. Angry wife was meh and the Umi tasted like a stomach ache. Just didn’t taste fresh. Super disappointed I love sushi and the only thing that I kind of enjoyed were the Cali rolls.

My brother and his family frequented this place, so my wife and I had to give it a try. This place is confusingly good. The Baja roll was one of the best sushi rolls we have EVER had, along with one place in Monterrey, California. The cilantro, tuna, and jalapeño are layered perfectly for the best bite. We love sushi places in Chicago, but this is easily comparable if not better. Loved the drinks as well. Our server Emily was awesome, sweet, and friendly too! Will definitely be back as a meeting spot from some family in Indy and us in Chicago. Thanks for this awesome spot

Excellent ! Wonderful specials (buy one regular roll, get a maki roll free – up to 2). I would recommend the 109 roll, the Butterfly roll(if you like spicy), and the Salmon Skin. Cocktail list is insane. Katana is really good. Service was excellent!
