etc. Great selection and delicious! Variety of beverages including soda, hot tea and multiple flavors of bubble tea included in dinner price.
Staff is friendly and efficient, always walking around, checking for refills, cleaning up etc. Plentiful seating including a party room. Also some arcade type games in the lobby.
Service charge is added to bill so tipping is not necessary.
One of our favorite places to eat!
Definitely recommend!
Umi buffet is a reasonably ok deal at lunch time on a weekday ($24), with moderately good quality food and service. This is a place you come when you want to fill up, with a large selection of things you want to try and sample.
The quality and level of sophistication of the food is ok, not stunning though — it matches the price. The dinner/weekend pricing ($39) is a bit much to pay although I believe they put out some higher value items.
Some dishes are well done, such as the cooked fish dishes, and of course the many varieties of Asian salads and sides (seaweed salads, etc, which are hard to get wrong).
Sushi (rolls) selection is of moderate quality (rice-heavy); while the sashimi selection is limited. Soups consist of the starch-thickened Americanized Chinese restaurant style hot/sour, etc. soups. There are lots of the usual stir fries, pork, beef dishes, noodles, rice, etc.
The crab claws unfortunately were a bit disappointing — the meat was a bit pasty and hard to extract from the claws, like stuck to the sides, indicating to me something about lesser quality crabs.
They also offer you an individual hot pot at your table, with lots of refrigerated meats for your choice. There’s ramen/noodle chef station too.
Dessert + fruit table is good, and you can drink boba to your heart’s delight (watch your sugar intake).
Service charge / tip is a fixed 12% which is nice. There is a surcharge for CC payments.
All in all, it was good to eat there once. I wouldn’t make a special trip miles out of the way to come here. The buffet didn’t wow me to that extent overall. But if you’re in the area and want lots of food + choices, it’s reasonably ok.
Last point: I wish they wouldn’t use plastic disposable plates, and instead wash dishes. It seems like such a waste of plastic. Also, maybe put out hand sanitizer stations for people to use, especially at a buffet?
The food was incredibly fresh, the hotpot options were flavorful, and the sushi tasted amazing. The variety of seafood was impressive, and everything was well-seasoned and high quality. The staff was friendly, helpful, and super quick with service. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and has a great vibe—perfect for groups or a cozy dinner.
Highly recommend if you love hotpot, sushi, or just great food in general! Will definitely be back.
My favorite was the ramen bar, where you can pick your selections from a well-prepped fridge, followed by a chef that gets it done right in front of you, and with a smile. Loved it. We’ll be back for sure.
