It was so good, me and my boyfriend have been looking for a place that would be as good as Okinawa in the heights was, and this was by far the best Sushi and Steakhouse we’ve been to! The server was very nice and funny, and we always had our drinks topped up, even before it was empty! We ordered Shrimp Tempura, The Filet Mignon and Shrimp, Miso soup with that, and 2 rolls, The Tiger Roll, and Pink Lovers Roll, and it came with 8 rolls each and they were absolutely delicious! The total was $73 but it was well worth, probably even more than that price! Absolutely coming to this place again! The shrimp tempura was deveined/gutted and so Light and crispy! They had the most flavorful Miso soup we’ve had! 10/10. Would definitely recommend!

The food was alright, the cook was not very interesting and the place needed some repairs. The chicken was over cooked, the shrimp was not cleaned well but the steak with garnish was very good. The fried rice had not veggies in them, which was fine for the kids. I’m not sure I will be back to this steakhouse.

Staff was super friendly. Very relaxed nice environment. Food was AMAZING. I grew up in the Seattle area and miss sushi since coming more west. This was quality fish. And everything tasted fresh and delicious. The prices are reasonable and the drinks are strong and delicious. Will be coming back again.

Our first time here in awhile. We both had Hibachi, which was really excellent. They botched our reservation or this review would be 5 stars. Highly recommend either the Tiger Roll and the Godzilla Roll.

My last 4 visits have been horrendous. The family decided to come for my birthday anyway.
Best. Decision. Ever.
Eden was sweet and attentive.
David brought my teen to tears with that beautiful salmon (that kid is a foodie)!
Not one thing was burnt (as it has been the last many times we’ve eaten here).
My food was perfect! Super tasty! Worth every penny!
Thank you for stepping it back up!
The only issue is the nightmare that is the bathrooms. Those do need more attention.

I visited UMI last night to order takeout. I sat at the bar to have a drink while I waited for my meal. When I first walked in I was promptly greeted and it looked pretty nice. Once I was sat at the bar top I realized that it wasn’t as nice as it appeared.
While I was at the bartop I was assaulted by a cloud of fruit flies. I work in the industry and understand that they can be a pain to control but I have never seen so many in one place before. In front of me, on bar mats, there was a very wet receipt, a ton of ice littered everywhere and a used stirring spoon. The mats were very wet and I assume that whatever was on them was attracting the flies. It was apparent that not a lot of deep cleaning has been done in the bar for a long time. I ordered a sake to drink while I waited for a beef teriyaki bento box and a sushi roll.
While I was waiting I witnessed the bartenders and host constantly on their phone right next to the host stand. It was so bad that customers would come in and stand there to be greeted and these three would ignore them. One couple had to walk up to them and ask to be sat. Rather than being on their phones they could have been cleaning the mess in front of me and/or doing some deep cleaning behind the bar. It is obvious they were lacking training.
It took awhile to get my check to pay because the bartender was more interested in her phone but once I got my food, and paid, I left.
I got back to my Airbnb to, finally, eat after traveling 400 miles to be with my mom during her surgery and recovery. I found out my roll was missing. I immediately called UMI and got the bartender that served me. She apologized that she forgot and I told her I would be back to pick it up (the last thing I wanted to do but I paid for it). Once I got there I was not offered a refund on the roll or any type of compensation for my time and gas to go all the way back to get it.
Once I got back to the house I ate the food. It is the only reason I gave the place 2 stars and not 1. The food was really good but I don’t think I will recommend this place to anyone or go back when I come to town. There are definitely other sushi options around Billings.

Delicious shashimi! Great atmosphere dinning inside. However, the service wasn’t good at all. My steamed dumplings were cold because my server forgot about my order.

UMI is a must if you’ve never experienced hibachi. The presentation and the atmosphere is what makes it. You have a personal chef cooking for you and your loved ones and makes it feel like a home cooked meal. Fresh produce and care for the food makes it worth the trip. I’ll definitely be going back to try more on the menu. Thanks to the wonderful staff and amazing chef for the great experience.

My husband and I got takeout for my birthday and unfortunately ended up waiting 30 minutes after we got to the restaurant at our scheduled pick up time to get our food. Normally i would be very understanding if they were busy, but the place was dead and there were at least 5+employees walking around and chatting with eachother. My meal was very good -snow crab roll, cucumber avocado roll and seaweed salad. Unfortunately 2 of my hisbamds wings were still bloody/ not cooked all the way and his chicken pad thai was awful-bland, barely any chicken, no crushed peanuts or anything as described on the menu. They threw on cream cheese wontons to tey to ammend the late meal but they were cold and hard. I would definitely recommend the sushi, but forego the other meals and appetizers.
