If you are looking for top quality Nigiri (or hand rolls) then this is the place. Wasn’t a fan of what they put on top of the pieces but you just take it off and you’re gtg.
The starters are very tasty but the tempura is not really tempura. Guess they just call it that because it’s fried.
The cocktails are very well made as well.
Service needs a bit of work though, we were constantly looking for the server at times.

Right off the airplane on our first night in Panama, we searched for a Japanese restaurant and discovered Umi. We arrived around 9pm and the place was absolutely packed. We put our name down for the first available table at 10pm—and it was well worth the wait. The food was fantastic, the music was vibing, and the atmosphere was completely our style.
We returned on our third night for a reprise, and the staff remembered us—what a lovely time! We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Panama!

Without a doubt, the best sushi in Panama. Traditional, exquisitely and immaculately prepared. No weird rolls filled with mango and cream cheese. This is nagiri and sashimi made with fish that was in the ocean this morning. Caught locally, for the most part. It’s pricey but worth every penny. Highly recommended.

No omakase option, only a la carte. Missed opportunity. This restaurant was really strange….super tasty, very very good food. Perfect decor. But…they played loud 90s rap music (2pac, NWA, Snoop) and there was 38 employees, but only one of them worked to make sushi. Strange.

Best sushi restaurant in Panama. Definitely a splurge place, but worth it for a special occasion. The quality of the fish is unreal — the Nigiris melt in your mouth and the small plates to share are extremely flavorful and inventive. Highly recommend!

A very high-end restaurant. The menu is relatively small, but every dish is absolutely delicious—fresh, precise, and full of flavor. It’s clear that the focus here is on quality over quantity. An excellent dining experience and highly recommended for anyone looking for top-quality Japanese food in Panama City.
